30 June 2019, Patna: Lok Samiti, a non-political and Gandhian organization celebrated it’s 42nd foundation day at Charkha Samiti, Kadamkuan and hoisted organizational flag at LS state office. On this occasion, a symposium was organized upon “Relevance of JP’s Thoughts & Role of Lok Samiti”. The program was presided by Mr. Girija Satish (National President, Lok Samiti). Its significant that on 30 June 1977, Loknayak JP has instituted Lok Samiti, a non-political body and himself was it’s first president.

From the chair, Mr. Girija Satish declared about objective of LS as people’s control over the government and it’s affairs. Lok Samiti holds a special position under various socio-political experiments by JP and contributed to a vibrant Indian democracy, he pointed out. Mr. Girija Satish explained about important programs by Lok Samiti with focus upon right to livelihood for youths, land to landless, electricity-road-water-health-education facilities, promotion of intercaste-interreligion marriage, systemic reform in legislature-executive-judiciary, opposing casteism-communalism-liquor-superstition and empowerment of women-farmer-landless people. In coming days Lok Samiti will advocate for the issues like a strong law for liquor prohibition across India and a comprehensive systemic reform in governance, he stated.

As chief guest of program, Mr. Shivanand Tiwary (ex-Bihar minister & JP movement agitator) expressed deep concern over communal feeling on rise and a disdainful posture against Gandhian ideology. He appealed people to have real meaning of RamRajya and to disseminate it. Mr. Kaushal Ganesh Azad (National Coordinator, Lok Samiti) denounced casualties due to incephalitis & sunstroke, scarcity of water and serious threat to environment as well as to our composite culture. This situation is to be changed, he opined. Mr. Narendra Singh (distinguished guest & ex-agriculture minister of Bihar) said about high ideology of JP movement and the dream of rural development through agriculture, cottage-small industries but now-a-days people are suffering from communalism, capitalism, unemployment and a different version of religion.

On this juncture, two senior office bearers of Lok Samiti as Mr. Vijay Kumar (President, Bihar State Lok Samiti) and Mr. Wazeer Ahmad (Vice-president, Jharkhand State Lok Samiti) were honored with shawl by the guests. These gentlemen have contributed a lot to make Lok Samiti stronger. Mr. Shivji Singh (General Secretary, BSLS) anchored the program and vote of thanks was delivered by Mr. Saudagar (Coordinator, BSLS).

Around 200 people from different districts of Bihar came to attend Lok Samiti foundation day program including Mr. Vidyabhushan (ex-MLA), Mr. Jagannath Singh, Mr. Vinod Sharma, Mrs. Meena Devi, Mrs. Kranti Rashosh, Mr. Satyendra Kumar, Mr. Rajendra Manjhi, Mr. Shankar Rana, Mr. Radheshyam Filkus, Mr. Mansoor Alam, Mr. Umashankar, Mr. Nagendra Sinha, Mr. Alok Kumar, Dr. Umesh, Mrs. Fool Kumari, Mr. Manoj Paswan, Mr. Parmeshwar Yadav and Mr. Ramnaresh Kaushik.
