16 June 2019, Amrit Nagar (Hazaribag): A Legal Awareness Camp was organized under joint auspices of NBJK and District Legal Services Authority (DLSA), Hazaribag. NBJK run Capacity Building Program for Social Workers and Family Counselling Centre with support of BFW-Germany and Central-State Social Welfare Board respectively, have played important role to arrange the event. The camp has disseminated useful information upon Mediation to resolve legal disputes.
Mr. Satyendra Kumar Singh (District & Session Judge-cum-DLSA Chairperson) was the chief guest on the occasion who appreciated mediation as a right approach for solution when judiciary wants to get rid of ballooning backlog cases. We can avoid needless disputes through mutual settlement by spending less money and less time, he said while addressing the audience. Before this, Mr. Satish Girija (Secretary, NBJK) welcomed the chief guest with DLSA team and recalled own experience of mediating village disputes through Lok Samiti that resulted as more effective. Mr. Gaurav Sahay (advocate) has termed mediation as a process of settlement and pointed out its success in family conflicts. Mr. Sanjeev Jha (Secretary, DLSA) informed about a well-trained team of mediator advocates with DLSA that ensures involvement of both the parties for decision, maintains privacy of the process and supports to get a decision through dialogue. Mr. Vijay Kumar Singh (advocate) told about the condition of No Appeal at higher court for the case decided once with mediation process. Its success rate is about 50-60% and more importantly it reduces the number of fake cases, he explained.
Mr. Bhaiya Mukesh (advocate & DLSA team leader) discussed upon the very process of mediation, said about its application for any civil case and the potentiality to wind-up multiple cases together. Md. Moazzam (advocate) has called any mediation based conclusion as a win-win situation for both the parties that enables people to be connected. Mr. Anuj Kumar (advocate) requested the participants to get support from DLSA if they lack resources and denied for justice.
About 70 women SHG members from Amrit Nagar, Nutan Nagar, Oriya, Sakhiya, Rola villages and Hazaribag town have participated in this legal awareness camp. Mr. Rajeev Singh has anchored the proceeding that ended with vote of thanks by Mrs. Meera Gupta (Counsellor, Family Counselling Centre).
