15 June 2019, Amritnagar (Hazaribag): Mr. Girija Satish (President, NBJK) has flagged off an Awareness Chariot (Jagran Ratha) against Child Marriage as an activity of Plan India supported Child Centered Community Development Program. The chariot was decorated prettily with ICE material related to main points of The Prohibition of Child Marriage Act, 2006 and it will move across about 100 villages of Sadar, Katkamdaag, Churchu, Daree, Katkamsaandi, Daroo, Padma and Chouparan blocks in Hazaribag district till 22 June 2019 to make people ready for a big No to Child Marriage.
Before showing a green flag to the Ratha, Mr. Girija Satish said that Child Marriage is a social evil and an illegal practice which must be stopped now. He appealed the people to negate marriage of girls below 18 years and boys less than 21 years of their age and must inform the local police, Block Development Officer or Deputy Commissioner to stop such incidents.
Mr. Ranjan Kumar (Program Manager, CCCD) added that one may inform to 1098, the toll free number of Childline also which takes its cognizance much promptly. The parents-relatives-neighbors-familiars, pandit-maulvi-pastor, caterer & other service providers with the adult male who marries with minor girl – these all can be punished with 2 years imprisonment or Rs. 1 lakh penalty or both will be imposed together, he informed. Bhaiya Anshuman (Asst. PM, CCCD) was of the view that our children or minor citizens should be saved from child marriage as it affects their body and mind severely.
Many senior staffs like Messrs Pravesh Singh, Mithilesh Kumar, Meera Gupta, Arun Verma, Rajeev Singh, Abhay Kumar and young trainees were present on this occasion who chanted the slogans against child marriage to encourage the campaign.
