Training on #RightsOfPersonsWithDisabilitiesAct2016 @ActionVillageIn @BigLotteryFund

13 April 2017, Hazaribag: Two days training on Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act 2016 was held for staffs of Disability Rights program executed in 5 districts of Jharkhand-Bihar with support of AVI-BLF, UK. The training was initiated by Mrs. Sujata Prasad (Program Manager) who outlined the law and informed about new provisions incorporated there for sake of PwDs. She said that now 21 types of disabilities come under domain of the law and there are more rights for people with disabilities. This needs to be disseminated among program beneficiaries as a priority as they are entitled to get such rights, she instructed to the trainees. Also she has briefed about different benfits like National Social Security Pension, Integrated Life Insurance Coverage and Pradhan Mantri Housing Scheme besides state pension, aids & appliances, concessional travel by Railway provided having a disability certificate issued to any PwD. She praised Central and State governments for such provisions.

Dr. Mukesh Kumar Suman (Physiotherapist) has thrown light over early identification of visual, hearing and other disabilities among infants or children to get proper treatment as soon as possible. There were 60 participants like district-block coordinators and field staffs from Hazaribag, Koderma, Giridih, Gaya and Nawada districts who gone through this training on the law passed by the Indian Parliament in December 2016.
