Convention on Carers’ Day at Hazaribag @CarersWorldwide

4 August 2015, Hazaribag: A convention of Carer SHGs was held at NBJK coordination office on Carers Day with support of Carers Worldwide and Commonwealth Foundation, UK. 75 representatives from SHGs of Carers promoted by NBJK were present in the convention inaugurated by Dr. Dharmveer Prasad (Civil Surgeon, Hazaribag) and Dr. Anil Patil (Founder & ED, Carers Worldwide) jointly. Dr. Dharmveer has greeted the program for carers by NBJK with support of Carers Worldwide and called this as an innovative measure in service of hidden service providers in our homes and villages. He has assured for the assistance possible within his prerogative and conveyed best wishes to the program. Dr. Anil Patil (ED, Carers Worldwide) has drawn attention over the pitiable condition of carers and called for support to mitigate their health and livelihood related problems they meet in daily lives additional to taking care for  their family members suffering from disability, mental illness or old age. Mr. Girija Satish (President, NBJK) has welcomed all guests and participants in the convention and defined Caring for Carers as a visionary program in villages from Sadar, Daru, Ichak, Katkamsandi and Katkamdag blocks of Hazarribag district. He has briefed about stake of Carers in programs like Rights to PWDs, their skill development and Mental Health & Development by NBJK. Around 97% identified carers are women and their empowerment is a key concern for us, he pointed out. Mr. Girija Satish has suggested for a Carers Home in Hazaribag and skill development training to them for livelihood support. There were carers like Md. Umar, Rajkumari Devi, Kishori Kumari, Girija Devi, Sunita Devi, Anuradha Sharma and others who shared their experience in caring of their relatives and asked for the support. The program team of Mrs. Vimla Rana, Mrs. Pratima Devi, Mr. Kamal Pandey, Mr. Sujit Mishra, Md. Nayeem and Mr. Rajeev Singh (team leader) has organized the Carers’ Convention.
