#GoodResult of 12th & 10th Class Students at #SurekhaPrakashBhaiPublicSchool @NBJKIndia

03 & 07 May 2019, Chauparan (Hazaribag): The students of NBJK run Surekha Prakash Bhai Public School have passed class 12th & 10th examinations with flying colours under aegis of Central Board of Seconday Education, New Delhi.

In class 12th, total 23 students have appeared in the examination and Harsh Sinha of Commerce stream became the school topper with 86% marks. He was followed by Roushan Kumar (Science) and Hritik Jain (Commerce) with 84% for both while Riya Sinha (Commerce), Tejaswani Raj (Science), Roushni Perween (Science), Md. Faisal Ansari (Science) and Amrita Kashyap (Science) have secured 70% and above marks. Other three students have got 60% or above and 05 students could achieve 50% or plus in this board examination with overall passing result as 70% for the school.

In class 10th board examination, total 140 students have appeared and Ritika Raj became the school topper with 94% marks. Other students like Sanya Verma (92%), Krishna Kr. Rana (91%) and Riya Rana (91%) too have shown their guts in the result. There are 8 students with 90% & above, 30 students with 80% and above, 48 students with 70% & more while 50 examinees got  60% and above marks. Overall passing percentage is 98%.

The result of class 12th & 10th has made the students happy with their parents and Ms Rina Pandey (Principal, SPPS) congratulated them on behalf of the school. She appreciated students for their hard work, praised school teachers for guidance and commended the parents for cooperation. Also she thanked the school management for all time support. #FamilyCounsellingCentre Called Its #Sub-CommitteeMeeting @MinistryWCD

25 April 2019, Hazaribag: With support of Central Social Welfare Board, New Delhi and Jharkhand State Social Welfare Board, Ranchi; NBJK run Family Counselling Centre (FCC) has called its Sub-Commitee meeting at the premises of Women Police Station, Hazaribag.

This quarterly meeting was presided by Mrs. Radha Kumari (In-charge, WPS) who suggested the counsellors to visit homes of both plaintiff & defendent to know the reality inside any case. She said that pre-marital counselling by FCC can be a healthy practice to avoid future problems in one’s family life.

All Sub-Committee members were consentient that there should be a Stay Home in Hazaribag for helpless and vulnerable women at risk. Also they recommended to disseminate the information about Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act amid students of schools/colleges.

During the meeting, Mrs. Meera Gupta (Counsellor, FCC) has placed the quarterly report (February-April 2019) of FCC before the Sub-committee members and said that total 35 cases have been registered during the period. There were 13 cases for Marital Dispute between wives-husbands, 07 cases for Alcohol Born Violence in families, 02 cases as Second Marriage by husbands, 04 cases of Land Dispute, 01 case for Dowry, 03 cases as Conflict with Clan people, 04 cases of Quarrel with Son & Daughter-in-law and 01 case of Teasing, she pointed out. Mrs. Gupta has informed the members about settlement of 19 cases and further efforts to reconcile others also.

The sub-committee meeting was attended by Mrs. Sheela Kumari,  Mrs. Munni Kumari (ASI), Mrs. Usha Devi, Mrs. Annie Thomas, Ms Veena Sethi, Mrs. Shiva Kumari, Mrs. Sharda Devi, Mr. Arvind Jha and Mr. Sanjay Kumar (Counsellor, FCC).

Workshop on #FosterCare&Sponsorship by #DLSA @ bread4theworld

28 March 2019, Amrit Nagar : A Legal Awareness Camp was organized under joint auspices of District Legal Services Authority, Hazaribag and NBJK under Capacity Building Program for Social Workers with support of Bread for the World, Germany. On this occasion, DLSA team planned a workshop on Foster Care & Sponsorship to make people aware of child rights. Mr. Arun Prabhat Sinha (Retd. CJM) was the chief guest of this function who called the law framed in the year 2018 as a need of our time.

Mr. Bhaiya Mukesh (DLSA team leader) has introduced the theme of foster Care & Sponsorship and said that our judiciary is responsible for realization of the law and ensures people’s participation. The very caring and safety of orphan children is a sensitive matter that needs a legal purview to avoid irregularities as no one can possess any orphan child randomly rather he/she has to follow required process and to inform local police first of all, he opined. Mr. Saurabh Anshu (DLSA member) said that the process of child adoption is now on-line, transparent and the adopted child gets legal right from the family she/he goes. Mr. Anuj Kumar explained about the age group of children as 0-6 years for foster care and 6-21 years for sponsorship purpose, Rs. 2000 monthly as caring stipend for new parents and role of district Child Welfare Committee to protect child rights. Mr. Sanjay Kumar (Srijan Foundation, Hazaribag) supported for a family set up instead of an orphanage for stray children and cautioned that any parent with already three children can’t be eligible for foster care. Md. Moazzam (DLSA team leader) appealed the parents to avoid gender dicrimination among children. Mrs. Anamika Kumari was in favour of protection for each child and Mrs. Renu Kumari focused upon people’s introduction with legal provisions towards child rights.

Mr. Satish Girija (Secretary, NBJK) welcomed the chief guest with DLSA team and said that we could link more than 1500 children with sponsorship program under Child Centered Community Development in Churchu block and associated with more children through programs like Family Counselling Center and Childline 1098.

The workshop was attended by about 50 women from SHGs at nearby villages like Oriya, Amrit Nagar, Birbir, Sakhiya, Baihari, Rola etc. and Mrs. Saraswati Devi (vill-Oriya) has elaborated about her family problems before DLSA members. Mr. Rajeev Singh (Porgram Manager, NBJK) delivered vote of thanks at last. Mrs. Meera Gupta (Counsellor, Family Counselling Center), Mr. Shankar Rana (Lok Samiti), Mr. Sudhir Upadhyay, Mr. Prayag Prajapati and Mr. Mahesh Kumar (all Micro-credit dept.) have played important role to organize the camp.

#Training Completion of #SkillForLife Trainees @WeareSwades @HSBC

19 March 2019, Amrit Nagar (Hazaribag): Two months skill development course namely “Skill for Life” for a batch of youths has been completed today. This was conducted by NBJK with support of Swades Foundation & HSBC, Mumbai. The trainees have received their course completion certificates and were offered individual placements in a simple ceremony held at the coordination office of NBJK.

On this occasion, Mr. Girija Satish (President, NBJK) and Mr. Prabhu Nath Sharma (Treasurer, NBJK) were present and motivated the passing out youths to labour hard patiently with dedication at the begining of their career. Both of them have encouraged the trainees to accept different experiences coming up with crisscross of their lives. Also the youths have expressed satisfaction over fooding, lodging and training facilities available at NBJK and many of them admitted about learning of new skills here.

There were 12 youths who completed training under the trade of General Duty Assistant (GDA) or Bed Side Patient Attendant (BSPA) along with 20 others with Basic Computer Application and 04 with Mobile Repair or servicing. All 12 girls of BSPA and 20 girls-boys of BCA have got placement on the same day while 04 boys from Mobile Repair have decided to start their own service centres as an initiative towards self-employment.

The certificate distribution ceremony was attended by Mr. Om Prakash Gupta (project mobilizer), Mrs. Sunita Kumari, Mr. Anurag Shrivastava, Mr. Subodh Kumar Chanchal, Mr. Rohit Raj (all faculties) and Mr. Kirti Rawat (placement officer).

#SanitationFortnightAwareness Workshop by #FamilyCounsellingCentre @MinistryWCD

15 March 2019, Amrit Nagar (Hazaribag):  NBJK run Family Counselling Centre with support of Central Social Welfare Board, New Delhi and Jharkhand State Social Welfare Board, Ranchi, has organized a workshop at village-Oriya in Hazaribag Sadar block on the occasion of Sanitation Fortnight Awareness campaign.  The workshop was focused upon Use of Toilet, Health & Sanitation and participated by girl children, students, women & men of the village.

During the programme, Mrs. Meera Gupta (Sr. Counsellor, FCC) discussed about voluntary contribution of labour, hand wash with soap, hygienic habits, freedom from open defecation and made people aware of general cleanliness in village or settlements. Mr. Sanjay Kumar (Counsellor, FCC) said that by proper hand wash with soap before taking any food and after defecation, we can prevent infectious diseases. Some school girl children like Neha, Babita and Sandhya have demonstrated the way for handwashing with soap.

Mrs. Babita Devi and Mrs. Nasima Bano (village women) provided tips about household hygiene and played a demo with brooms. Mrs. Sunita, Mrs. Sandhya and other cleaners at NBJK too have contributed to arrange the workshop effectively.

#CapacityBuilding Training & Exposure Visit for Small VOs @bread4theworld

13-16 March 2019, Amrit Nagar (Hazaribag): Four days residential training including an exposure visit for small Voluntary Organizations and social workers has been organized under Poverty Eradication Programme supported by Bread for the World, Germany. The programme bears the components like general food security and treatment of PwMIE (People with Mental Illness & Epilepsy).

Mr. Girija Satish (President, NBJK) has addressed the participants during concluding session and said that some progressive farmers defeated the very idea of non-profit agriculture and they are making income through new  practices with farming as well as with dairy. He placed an example of Kunwar Dairy Farm by Major (Retd.) Uma Shankar at village-Amrit Nagar which could earn the profit of around 35% with improved production of milk & crops by a professional-scientific approach. An exposure visit to Kunwar Dairy and it’s vegetables unit was arranged for the VOs. On initial days, the trainees were provided training support on Documentation, Media Liaison and Accounting System.

On documentation & media liaison, Mr. Vinay Kumar Bhatta was the resource person who discussed about the topics like minute book, case study, news clips, photo-video usage, visitors’ views, annual report, handbill-poster-brochure, event report, correspondence  and advantage of positive news. Also he provided tips for drafting a press release and said that our press release must reflect a support to the issues of weaker section, social harmony and environment protection but to oppose superstition, atrocity and social inertia. On accounting system, Mr. Pravesh Singh has briefed about the role & responsibility of cashier-account officer, methods of accounting, vouchers, account, supporting registers, cash book, ledger, trial balance, receipt-payment, income-expenditure, audit, assets & liabilities, balance sheet, book keeping etc.

Total 27 VOs from Chatra, Koderma, Hazaribag, Giridih, Bokaro, Dhanbad, Ranchi, Ramgarh, Gaya, Nawada, Muzaffarpur, Khagaria, Chhapra, Patna, Motihari districts of Jharkhand and Bihar were represented in this residential training. Mr. Rajeev Singh (Programme Manager) and Mr. Shankar Rana (Asst. PM)  played important role to organize the training.

#Condolence Meeting in Remembrance of Mr. #AlanLeather @ActionVillageIn

06 March 2019, Amrit Nagar (Hazaribag): Mr. Alan Leather, the president of Action Village India, U. K. departed for heavenly abode on 3rd March 2019. He was sick and under medical treatment for some time. This sad news was shared by Mr. Ivan Nutbrown (Ex – Coordinator, AVI) who was in Hazaribag recently. As NBJK is a partner organization of AVI for a long time, the information was quite shocking and a condolence meeting held to remember Mr. Alan Leather. This started with an introductory note by Mr. Rajeev Kumar Singh (Programme Coordinator, NBJK) who invited people to offer flowers and garlanding the portrait of Mr. Alan as paying homage to the deceased.

This was followed by a minute long silence to mourn his demise and Mr. Ivan Nutbrown talked about his first meeting with Mr. Alan in the year 1969 at Patna. At that time, Mr Alan was representing Oxfam in India and Mr. Ivan was a volunteer at Samanway Ashrama, Bagaha, near Barachatti in Gaya district of Bihar. Later Mr. Alan has worked with refugees from Bangladesh as well as with trade unions in UK, South Africa and other countries emerged after dissolution of Soviet Union. Also he was a theatre artist and contributed to pro-democracy movement in South Africa. Mr. Alan was a versatile man with access to both rich or poor and he was like a life insurance for AVI, Mr. Ivan said in the meeting. Ms Zennie (AVI Supporter) praised Mr. Alan as a master communicator and remembered one of his address with body language on Women’s Day  at Chennai earlier. Mr. Girija Satish (President, NBJK) recalled about the first meeting with Mr. Alan Leather in 1966 during drought relief works in Odisha and valued his dedication for social work across the globe passionately. Mr. Alan was a great believer of democracy and always he cared for the wishes of AVI partner organizations, Mr. Girija Satish pointed out. Also Ms Ellie Cockle and Ms Vicky Addinall (both AVI supporters) have talked about Mr. Alan Leather and his contribution to humanity.

Later a mango plant was sown in memory of Mr. Alan Leather at NBJK premises. All the staffs have participated in the meeting and plantation ceremony.

#TrainingSupport to #CarersOrganization @CarersWorldwide

21-22 February 2019, Amrit Nagar (Hazaribag): Under the Carers Promotion programme with support of Carers Worldwide-UK, NBJK has identified 1413 people taking care of their family members suffering from disability, mental illness and old age problems. These carers were found in Sadar, Katkamsandi, Katkamdag, Daroo, Ichak , Chauparan blocks of Hazaribag district. NBJK promoted their 83 SHGs with cumulative saving as around Rs. 10 lakh and provided financial support woth Rs. 7 lakh to 110 carers to link them with different income generation activities during last year.

Now the carers have been motivated to form an NGO namely Pragati Carers Sewa Sansthan under Society Registration Act and NBJK organized a training programme for it’s office bearers including executive committee members. This two days training was focused upon the topics like carers’ problem with explanation, their role & responsibility, recognition by the government, data collection, people’s association and organizational expansion. On behalf of Pragati Carers, Mrs. Sumitra Devi (President), Mr. Vijay Paswan (Secretary), Anita Devi (Treasurer) and executive committee members have participated in the training. They were of the view that the government should make a plan to support carers.

As the facilitator, Mr. Rahul Mehta (Rehab. Expert) has contributed to the training while Mr. Natesh and Mr. Madan have represented Carers Worldwide for the activity. They said that in many countries, the very issue of carers got attention of civil society as well as of the governments and we will propose to form a state level forum by carers to riase their concerns publicly. Mr. Rajeev Kr. Singh (Programme Manager, NBJK) outlined about the programme that may be expanded in other blocks of Hazaribag district with the objective to empower  carers in service of their family members despite various constraints. The programme field workers like Mrs. Vimla Rana, Mrs. Pratima Devi, Mrs. Neelam Sharma, Sujit, Mr. Kamal Kant and Mr. Navaratna Pandey too have participated in the training.
