19 November 2021, Saraikela: Today Saraikela-Kharsawan District Lok Samiti has organized a convention upon Liquor Prohibition at Utkal Mani Adarsh Pathagar with support of NBJK-Hazaribag & Jamnalal Bajaj Foundation-Mumbai.
Mr. Girija Satish (President, National Lok Samiti) was the Chief Guest of this program who termed liquor as a main obstruction to development of any person-family-society-sate-nation and said that liquor caused incidents of violence, booty, rape; road accident, women atrocity etc are on rise. He warned to not compare liquor consumption in India with foreign countries as their climate, social structure, intake timing-manner are totally different and they too are suffering from broken families as more people become mentally ill because of alcoholism. Mr. Girija Satish pointed out that the Government is not willing to withdraw its powers in favour of PRIs, imposing various legal provisions for grassroots VOs those work among people on ground. He demanded for a strong prohibitive law for not only Jharkhand but for entire India and asked the Government to arrange sufficient irrigation facility for farmers.
Before this, Mr. Shankar Rana (Co-ordinator, Jharkhand State Lok Samiti) has briefed about Lok Samiti’s anti-liquor campaigns in Bihar & Jharkhand in the years 2014 and 2017. He updated about recent intervention by the organization against liquor in Jharkhand.
On this occasion, Mr. Kaushal Ganesh Azad (National Co-ordinator, Lok Samiti) has stressed upon liquor prohibition for a strong and safe society. Mr. Manoj Choudhary (Vice-president, Saraikela Municipality) has supported to ban liquor in Jharkhand due to high crime rate. Mr. Angura Mahto (Founder Member of District Lok Samiti) said about activities to make people aware of No Liquor campaign and reminded for requirement of legal support. Mr. Ganesh Gagrai (Ex-Mukhiya) has maintained to discard alcohol if we want to promote education & women empowerment in our society. Mr. Karmu Mardi has proposed to ban liquor under a strong Panchayti Raj system while Mrs. Lakshmi Jyoti presented an awareness song to get rid of liquor and supported for its socio-legal prevention.
The event was chaired and anchored by Mr. Angura Mahto and Mr. Gurupado Mahto respectively in presence of around 125 women-men including Mr. Jagat Kishor Pradhan, Mr. Rajesh Singh Deo and Mr. Rajaram Mahto etc as prominent citizens from the area.
17 November 2021, Amrit Nagar (Hazaribag): Under NBJK run program of #UshaSilaiSchool with support of Usha International Limited-Delhi, 10 days residential training for Master Trainers has been started today.
Total 12 selected trainee women from Bihar & Jharkhand as 6 from Munger, Bhagalpur, Gaya, Patna and 6 from Hazaribag have ensured their participation in this advance level tailoring training activity and they will learn upgraded skills through practical workouts. These women have availed tailoring training earlier under the program and running Usha Silai School at their places effectively.
Mr. Prabhu Nath Sharma (Treasurer, NBJK) has inaugurated the event and said that after successful completion of this improved learning, the participant women will get chance to work as trainers since approved by Usha Company and also the trainees at their own schools will be benefited with such knowledge sharing. Mr. Ritesh Khandelwal (Representative, Usha International Ltd.) was present on the occasion.
As the instructor, Mrs. Sangita Jayaswal (Sr. Trainer, Usha International Ltd.) imparts advance tailoring skills with the trainees while Mr. Shailesh Kumar (Program Coordinator, NBJK) has arranged the affair.
16 November 2021, Mayatu (Hazaribag): Today 27 girl students of Remedial Coaching Center (RCC) at Mayatu village in Katkamdag block have participated in the quiz competition held at their Center. They have been asked questions from subjects like Science, Maths and English with General Knowledge.
These girls are students of class VIII, IX & X and get extra coaching for same subjects at RCC. After completion of class wise quiz competition, Sunaina stood first with Monika and Nafisa Farhat as second & third respectively among girls of class VIII. Likewise Pooja Kumari, Rani and Usha were declared as first, second & third for class IX while Nisha, Priti and Anshu achieved first, second & third positions in class X. All the winers have received books related to English Grammar, Translation & Dictionary as their prizes from the hands of Mr. Abhay Kumar (Program Supervisor). Also Mr. Dhananjay Prasad (RCC Teacher) and other school teachers were present on the occasion.
Under the program of Girls’ Education & Coaching Centers with support of Action Village India-UK, these quiz competitions are being organized from 23 October 2021 at the program run RCCs in Hazaribag Sadar, Katkamdag and Katkamsandi blocks of Hazaribag district. Out of 16 RCCs, 13 centers at the villages like Gurhet, Gurua, Pabra, Lupung, Khutra, Banha, Sultana, Mayatu etc have arranged the quiz events with participation of 437 girl children. Tomorrow the RCC in Sarauni village of Sadar block will organize the quiz, Mr. Abhay Kumar has informed.
12 November 2021, Chakla (Ranchi): Under NBJK run Usha Silai School program with support of Usha International-Delhi, 9 days residential and tribal exclusive training upon tailoring as well as sewing machine maintenance for 20 women has been started at village-Chakla (block-Ormanjhi, Ranchi) based NBJK training center. These tribal women belong to Lohardaga Sadar block of Lohardaga district in Jharkhand and their training will be accomplished on 20 November 2021.
On this occasion, Mr. Satish Girija (Secretary, NBJK) has applauded Usha Company for running the program since last 12 years constantly which enabled around 1000 women to achieve financial self-reliance with Usha Silai Schools they operate at their places. The program provides proper training about functioning of sewing machine-clothes making and many trained women are earning about Rs. 8000-10000 currently, he pointed out and encouraged the trainees for practical learning of new skills.
Mrs. Nusrat Parveen and Mrs. Arti Devi are tailoring trainers while Mr. Kamaljeet Sharma and Mr. Gopal Mishra impart about technicalities to handle sewing machine properly. After successful completion of the training, each trainee will receive a new sewing machine, signboard, guidebook, certificate etc to open own Usha Silai School at their respective places.
Mr. Ram Pravesh Prasad (In-charge, NBJK Training Centre, Chakla), Mr. Felix Tirkey (Program Officer, Usha International) and Mr. Shailesh Kumar (Program Co-ordinator, NBJK) are in support team responsible for smooth progression of the training.
30 October 2021, Chakla (Ranchi): Under NBJK run Usha Silai School program, 20 tribal women from Manika block of Latehar district in Jharkhand have completed 9 days residential training upon tailoring & sewing machine maintenance at the training centre of NBJK.
The trainees have been introduced to advance skills on different dresses making and an orientation to functioning as well as problems fixing of sewing machine. Mrs. Sandhya Agrawal and Mrs. Pooja Devi were trainers who supported the women for their practical learning.
After the training, all participants have received new sewing machine, signboard, guidebook and certificate as one for each. They will initiate their own Usha Silai School at their places. The event was specially organized for tribal women.

25 October 2021, Hazaribag: To facilitate Girls’ Education in the district, Action Village India-UK supported Remedial Coaching Centers in villages for girl students of class VIII-IX-X, have started quiz competitions from 23 October to 29 October in first phase.
After such events with 25 & 37 participants at RCCs of Sultana and Barasi villages respectively, today 42 students of the RCC at Gurhet village have contributed to quiz competition held there. This was like a preparatory with simple smart questions from their Maths, Science, GK & English syllabus.
Muskan, Lakshmi and Nidhi stood first, second & third among the girls from class VIII. In class IX, Devika, Shivani and Manti have been declared as top three accordingly while Shweta, Mahak and Rani won first three positions in a row.
The winners have got books of English grammar, translation and dictionary as rewards from Mr. Abhay Kumar (Program Asst.), Mr. Ganesh Yadav & other teachers. RCC children have liked the quiz. Till 18th November 2021, all 16 RCCs in Sadar, Katkamsandi and Katkamdag blocks will be covered under this series.
21 October 2021, Amritnagar (Hazaribag, Jharkhand): Under NBJK run program of Support to Small Initiatives with help of Bread for the World-Germany, Chief Executives of 21 small voluntary organizations from Jharkhand & Bihar have participated in a 2-days capacity building training held at NBJK Coordination Office premises on 19-20 October 2021.
During the training, Mr. Girija Satish (President, NBJK) got feedback of the intervention by VOs across their operational areas and discussed about future sustainability through programs. The VOs’ representatives have briefed about the support they provided to common people against tough time of Covid pandemic and shared about benefits of the efforts pertaining to food security, betterment of farmers, employment generation activities as well as their improved income.
In order of the training, Mr. Rajeev Singh (Program Manager) has decribed about financial aid from companies/business houses as Corporate Social Responsibility or CSR for philanthropic works by VOs. Also he focused upon updated rules & regulations related to foreign contribution under FCRA, provisions like 12A & 80G for income tax relaxation, registration with Niti Ayog etc.
In the final stage of training, all participant representatives of VOs have presented their future work plans. Mr. Shankar Rana (Asst. Program Manager) played active role in organizing the event.
18 October 2021, Dumka: Under NBJK run #UshaSilaiSchool program, 9 days residential training upon Sewing Machine Maintenance & Tailoring started at NBJK, Dumka.
The training is exclusively for ST community and 20 tribal women from villages of Dumka Sadar, Masaliya and Kathikund blocks have joined the program as trainees. Besides getting skills to fix faults in sewing machine and making of different dresses, they are attending personality development sessions also to improve their customer relation as promising entrepreneurs. Mrs. Pammi Devi and Mrs. Renu Devi are trainers for this batch. The training will last on 26 October 2021.
Mr. Felix Tirkey (Program Officer, Usha International), Mr. Shailesh Kumar (Program Coordinator, NBJK) and Mr. Rajesh Sharma (Program Coordinator, NBJK) played active role to organize the training.
11 October 2021, Hazaribag: Today the members of Hazaribag District Lok Samiti, ’74 Chetna Manch and social workers have celebrated 119th birth anniversary of Loknayak Jay Prakash Narayan, who was a renowned freedom fighter, sarvodaya leader and pioneer of students’ movement in year 1974.
On this occasion under leadership of Mr. Swarup Chand Jain (senior advocate & agitator of ’74 movement), garlands have been offered upon photograph of JP put over grave site where his ashes buried.
Mr. S. C. Jain said about ’74 movement when after appeal from JP, students & youths have sacrificed everything to make a new system and it was like second freedom movement, he remembered. Mr. Jain has saluted JP for the movement which saved Indian democracy. Mr. Shamsher Alam valued social harmony during ’74 movement that mobilized the mass to think above caste, faith in favour of our nation-society and still we need that very unity.
Mr. Shankar Rana (Co-ordinator, Jharkhand State Lok Samiti) said that JP himself established Lok Samiti in 1979 that enables us to raise voice upon issues those affect common people and we demand for JP statue here by people & administration jointly. Dr. Vishwanath Azad was concerned about beautification of JP Grave Site and Mr. Krishnaram Thakur called for safety measures.
These followers of JP have visited Hazaribag Central Jail also where an attractive statue of JP has been erected already, they met Mr. Ail Kumar Prithwi the artist who made this statue and gifted him a book upon JP.
10 October 2021, Deoghar (Jharkhand): At Bilasi turning near Canara bank inside Deoghar, Nav Bharat Jagriti Kendra (NBJK) has initiated Vimla Ramkrishna Bajaj Eye Hospital with support of Jamnalal Bajaj Foundation, Mumbai. Shri Shekhar Bajaj (CMD-Bajaj Electricals Ltd. & Director-Bajaj Group of Companies), the grandson of late Shri Jamnalal Bajaj and a son of late Smt. Vimla-Shri Ramkrishna Bajaj was chief guest of this event who inaugurated the hospital online from Mumbai. He appreciated NBJK for initiative to ensure proper treatment of needy eye patients and expected for relief to poor people. Also he saw live footage of the eye hospital and conveyed best wishes for success.
Before this, Shri Satish Girija (Secretary, NBJK) greeted all visitors present during inaugural ceremony and called Vimla Ramkrishna Eye Hospital as a gift to the people from Bajaj Family. He shared sincere gratitude to Jamnalal Bajaj Foundation for construction support to the hospital and co-operation to Anti-liquor campaign in Jharkhand.
On this occasion, Shri Ramnandan praised the motive of deprived people’s welfare behind establishment of Vimla Ramkrishna Bajaj Eye Hospital at Deoghar. Dr. Alok Agrawal (Senior Ophthalmologist) provided basic information upon eye care, said about modern equipments & techniques for treatment of vision complexities and asked for similar eye hospitals in every district. Shri Ghanshyam (Judaw-Madhupur) said that the eye hospital will benefit patients from not only Deoghar but from other nearby districts also. Shri Alok Kumar (Representative, Chamber of Commerce) has thanked the donors and thrusted for availability of infrastructure & communication facilities at Deoghar. Shri Sadanand and Smt. Rani Singh have valued the social works being done by NBJK.
At end of the program, Shri Girija Satish (President, NBJK) has expressed gratefulness to the chief guest Shri Shekhar Bajaj, Jamnalal Bajaj Foundation, all participants and assured for efficient service to more people by Vimla Ramkrishna Bajaj Eye Hospital.
There were more than 100 persons present in the inaugural ceremony and Shri Anand Abhinav (Program Director, NBJK), Shri Jitendra Kumar (Program Manager, NBJK), Shri Shahab & other staffs have contributed to the event as members of organizing team.
It’s noteworthy that Vimla Ramkrishna Bajaj Eye Hospital has 30 beds, 3 eye surgeons, 30 paramedical staffs, modern equipments-operation theatre, glasses shop, medicine shop and a competence for treatment of different eye problems. This will take care of eye patients from districts other than Deoghar like Giridih, Jamui and Banka also from Jharkhand-Bihar.
