15 September 2022, Silaunja (Bodhgaya, Gaya): With support of Madison Resource Foundation & Sightsavers, Tanya Computer Centre has been started at NBJK, Bodhgaya (Gaya) under Social Inclusion project by Sightsavers.

Mr. Pawan Lal Gupta (Branch Manager, NBJK-Bodhgaya) and Mr. Santosh Kumar Sinha (Principal, Komal Pujan Public School) have inaugurated this new venture at NBJK run LBHC-KPPS premises. They said that Tanya Computer Centre is dedicated to fulfill hope of differently abled children interested in computer learning but don’t get such opportunity.

Tanya Computer Centre will provide Computer Education free of cost to 12 visually impaired children from Gaya district. Currently TCC has been equipped with 06 computer sets with headphones, printer & scanner.

This uses a screen reading software which helps the visually challenged to learn about use of computers. The students will be given tactile books-notes in Braille, audio or large print, as per the requirement. Training is almost individual and duration of the course is six months to make them comfortable and confident using computers.

Ms. Annu Kumari has been appointed as the Centre Co-ordinator. She will teach all enrolled visually challenged children.

09 September 2022, Giridih-Deoghar: Under auspices of NBJK run Vimla Ramkrishna Bajaj Eye Hospital, Deoghar, 09 eye screening camps took place during the week at Nawadih, Tulsidih, Kodhwara, Salgati, Bhojpur, Kothiyadih, Madnutand, Khadkawan and Charkapahari villages in Jamua, Devipur and Mohanpur blocks of Giridih & Deoghar districts. In Giridih, these camps have been organized under Netra Vasant program of Sightsavers.

These camps have ensured eye checkup for 264 persons, detected Cataract with 78, Refractive Error with 133 while 32 found with other problems. Cataract suffering eye patients will be operated free of cost at the base hospital.

This initiative to get rid of avoidable blindness receives a lot of appreciation from local people.

08 September 2022, Giridih: Under NBJK run Young India project with support of UTI Mutual Fund, the trainees of General Duty Assistant trade at Mission Rozgar Training Center, Giridih got an opportunity for exposure visit.

Total 20 trainees have visited Shri Jeevan Clinic, Giridih and came to know about modus-operandi of this health center. They were curious and put many queries before doctors & staffs about treatment, equipments, medicines etc.

Ms. Rumana Azmat (Center Manager), Mrs. Roseline Tudu (Faculty, GDA) and Mr. Ranveer Singh (Placement Officer) from MRTC-Giridih have led the trainees.

Through exposure visits we orient trainee youths towards their future job place, professional requirements and make them familiar with the work culture they need to be adopted after placement, Ms. Rumana updated.

07 September 2022, Bahera (Chouparan, Hazaribagh):  One among the largest manufacturers of PVC pipes in India, Finolex Industries Limited and its CSR arm Mukul Madhav Foundation have taken their great initiative with NBJK run LNJP Eye Hospital to cure Cataract patients living in rural areas.

Finolex-MMF sponsor full treatment of 500 Cataract patients belong to Gaya district in Bihar. The program has been launched on 5th September and LNJPEH relieved such 16 eye patients after their Cataract surgery.

During a press meet on this occasion, Mr. Satish Girija (Secretary, NBJK) said that the program includes publicity & organizing eye screening camp at any particular area, identification of Cataract patients, bringing those from camp to hospital, their food-accommodation, surgery, medicines, drop them back to the campsite and everything is free of cost for the patients. He was accompanied by Mr. Rajan Kumar (Representative, Finolex-MMF) who highlighted the social work of the company. Both of them handed over medicine kits to the patients.

Also Mr. Gandharv Gaurav (Program Director, NBJK), Mr. Anand Abhinav (PD, NBJK), Mr. Santosh Puri (Manager, LNJPEH) and Mr. Karunanidhi (Program Manager, LNJPEH) were present in the meet.

05 September 2022, Hazaribagh-Giridih: NBJK run LNJP Paramedical Institute, Surekha Prakash Bhai Public School at Bahera (Chouparan, Hazaribagh), Mission Rozgar Training Center, Giridih and Remedial Coaching Centers at the villages of Sadar, Katkamdag & Katkamsandi blocks in Hazaribagh district have organized Teachers’ Day in order to pay respect and tribute to their teachers.

The trainees & students have remembered Dr. S. Radhakrishnan, a world famous philosopher and former president of India whose birth anniversary is marked as Teachers’ Day across the nation. Also they cut cake, arranged small gifts for their teachers and presented cultural programs.

At LNJPPI, Dr. Umesh (Sr. Ophthalmologist, LNJPEH) and Dr. Vishakha Gupta (Ophthalmologist, LNJPEH) lit lamp, garlanded the picture of Dr. S. Radhakrishnan and cut cake. They conveyed best wishes to all. At SPBPS, the students have organized an attractive cultural show. At MRTC-Giridih, Ms. Rumana Azmat (Center Manager) performed aarti and put tilak on forehead of the trainers and presented rose flowers to them. Likewise the students of RCCs have arranged Cakes and got their teachers sweetened.

All the teachers & their students have spent the day with great joy!!

03 September 2022, Bahera (Chouparan, Hazaribagh): Only 18 years old Ashish Singh, son of Mr. Surendra Singh from Domchanch (district-Koderma, Jharkhand) got a severe eye hurt and became unable to see properly. His injured right eye had 5/60 vision, probably worst in its kind.

Around four months back on 4th May 2022, he contacted LNJP Eye Hospital, Bahera and went through checkup by Dr. Umesh Kumar (Senior Ophthalmologist) who referred the case to Dr. Varun Garg, Retina Surgeon of LNJPEH. Again Dr. Garg examined the patient and operated his eye on 10th May. The surgery took place under Ayushman Bharat Yojna.

After one week, Ashish was found with 6/18 vision, far better than pre-surgery vision. After one month, his eye checkup report was amazing as 6/6 without glasses.

This was a matter of utmost satisfaction for us, Dr. Umesh and Dr. Varun remember. Also timing plays important role as proper treatment on time makes vision restoration easy, Dr. Varun mentions and thanks his Team Retina comprised of Mrs. Annapurna Devi, Ms. Rukmini Kumari, Mr. Rajkumar Singh, Mr. Santosh Ram, Mr. Ashok Yadav and Mr. Abhinav Kumar.

Master Ashish Singh, the Patient is grateful to LNJPEH and its doctors-staffs. They pulled me from desperation, I got a new energy now and concentrating to study, he says.

01 September 2022, Deoghar: NBJK run Vimla Ramkrishna Bajaj Eye Hospital, Deoghar has organized a free eye screening camp at Castairs Town (Bawan Bigha, Deoghar).

Dr. Yugal Kishor Choudhary, Civil Surgeon-Deoghar has inaugurated the camp. The office bearers of a citizens’ forum “Castairs Town Bawan Bigha Pariwar” including local body & PRIs representatives have graced the event with their presence.

This eye screening camp has provided checkup facility to 158 persons, detected 18 patients with Cataract as well as 45 with Refractive Error and 01 with Pterigium.

As per Ophthalmologist’s advice, 25 patients have received medicines, 37 will get glasses while 32 have been referred to the base hospital for better treatment. Also surgery for all persons suffering from cataract will be done by VRBEH.

01 September 2022, Bahera (Chouparan, Hazaribagh): LokNayak JayPrakash Eye Hospital has introduced Implantable Collamer Lens or ICL surgery and transplanted such lens in the eyes of a patient namely Mr. Manoj Kumar Yadav from Babhnadih (Barhi, Hazaribagh) successfully on 31st August 2022. Manoj, the young man is a heavy machine operator by profession and lives at Biharsharif (Nalanda, Bihar).

Dr. Alok Kumar (Senior Ophthalmologist, LNJPEH) did this great job as very first time for the hospital and earned appreciation. He said that ICL provides relief from thick glasses if one is of 18 plus age with stable vision & normal health report. It goes with both of the eyes through operations by one day gap and doesn’t affect daily routine, he explained.

Earlier the patient used to wear bulky specs with -14.00 (L) & -16.00 (R) and was unable see clearly. During post surgery checkup, his vision was found far better without glasses. Now he may need simple glasses.

Mr. Santosh Puri (Manager, LNJPEH) adds that ICL is an excellent choice for patients with myopia, hyperopia and astigmatism. It’s made of Collagen that is 100% biocompatible, absorbs harmful UV rays and is designed to function in accordance with our body, he informed.

29 August 2022, Deoghar-Giridih: NBJK run Vimla Ramakrishna Bajaj Eye Hospital, Deoghar is organizing Eye Screening Camps in Villages of Giridih and Deoghar districts.

During the period of 20-29 August 2022, it arranged 11 such camps at Naitand, Thariyara, Deothar, Bhayadih, Bhawanpur, Chuliha, Bariyarpur, Simaria, Kendua, Suardehi and Bhanudih villages of Jamua, Giridih Sadar and Mohanpur blocks of both the districts.

Through these screening camps, total 283 eye patients have availed checkup facility and 97 were found with Refractive Error while Cataract was detected with 115 among them. 30 patients had other eye problems and 8 have been referred to base hospital.

All the services are free of cost under the Mission of Avoidable Blindness Free Jharkhand.

27 August 2022, Bahera (Chouparan, Hazaribagh): An Inter House Quiz Contest was held at NBJK run Surekha Prakash Bhai Public School, Bahera (Chouparan, Hazaribagh). Ms Rina Pandey (Principal) has inaugurated the event organized among school’s four Houses named after Tagore, Gandhi, Subhash and JP.

In this contest, Gandhi House emerged as the overall winner with 90 marks and Subhash House has been declared as the runner-up with 54 marks while Tagore House & JP House achieved third and fourth positions consequently.

Mr. Indrajit Kumar Sharma and Mr. Rajiv Ranjan Lal, the school teachers have contributed as quiz masters while some senior teachers like Mr. Ajit Pandey, Mr. Shankar Singh, Mr. Bhola Sinha, Mr. Vyas Pandey and Mrs. Purnima Kumari were judges.

The Principal has distributed prizes among the winners as well as all participants and appreciated their sportsmanship spirit. She said that quiz contests update us with current affairs and expands our mental faculty.
