13 December 2022, Giridih: Under UNICEF supported Child Reporters program by NBJK, a drawing competition held at Baxidih Upgraded Middle School at Baxidih village in Giridih Sadar block.

The school children have made attractive drawings over the themes of wider concern like vaccination, child marriage, environment, water crisis etc.

Mr. Rajesh Kumar Sharma (Block Coordinator, Child Reporters program) and Ms. Rumana Azmat (NBJK, Giridih) distributed prizes among the children and encouraged them to express their ideas of around child rights as well as well-being of community. The school teachers have co-operated to organize the event.

In Giridih district, NBJK is executing Child Reporters program at 30 Government schools of Giridih Sadar, Bengabad and Gandeya blocks simultaneously.

12 December 2022, Chanho (Ranchi): As an activity of HDFC Bank supported Holistic Rural Development Program by NBJK in Chanho block of Ranchi district, a Training-cum-Awareness event has been organized for villagers on natural farming under aegis of Divyayan Krishi Vigyan Kendra-Ramakrishna Mission Ashrama, Ranchi and Chanho Birsa Munda Sangathan Producer Company Limited, an FPO promoted through HRDP. The event held at Raghunathpur panchayat secretariat.

On this occasion, Dr. Manoj Kumar Singh (Agriculture Scientist, KVK) said that with adoption of natural farming, our farmers can draw good income. He said that these days chemical fertilizers & pesticides are in much use to get rich crops but that affects our health as well as soil fertility badly and the land is becoming barren. In such a situation, we need to do safe, profitable farming with low cost and KVK is making villagers aware about natural agriculture, Dr. Singh mentioned. Also he shared about Jivamrit, Ghanamrit, Beejamrit, Neemastra, Brahmastra etc as organic catalysts for insect protected high yield and can be made easily at home with locally available materials.

Another agriculture scientist Dr. O. P. Sharma has informed about various training activities being done by Divyaayan KVK-Ranchi to capacitate farmers for productive, income oriented & safe agriculture. He offered the villagers to get benefit of such specialized knowledge drawn after proper research.

More than 60 women-men farmers including Mr. Sunil Kumar Gupta (APC, HRDP), Mr. Sunil Oraon (President, CBMSPCL), Mr. Priyanshu Kumar, Mr. Eeshwar Gupta, Mr. Nitesh Singh, Mr. Kamakhya Singh, Mr. Mahavir Oraon, Mr. Dhanu Oraon, Mr. Sunil Pandey, Mr. Bihari Bhagat, Mr. Shyam Oraon, Mr. Temba Oraon, Mr. Uday Minj and Mr. Pradeep have participated in this training.

10 December 2022, Bahera (Chouparan, Hazaribagh): NBJK run LokNayak JayPrakash Eye Hospital, Bahera (Chouparan, Hazaribagh) has organized one day workshop on Disability. Mr. Santosh Kumar Puri chaired the program while Mr. Subendra Pandey and Mr. Vikant Kumar Singh were resource persons.

Throwing light on disability, Mr. Subendra Pandey said that under the provisions contained in the Indian Constitution, there should not be any discrimination with any disabled person on the basis of his physical capability.

Mr. Vikant Singh said that according to Section 41 of the Indian Constitution, if someone discriminates against any Person with Disabilities that is a punishable crime under Section 89 to 93 with several types of sentences including imprisonment 5 years or penalty of Rs. 5 lakh either or both.

Recently from 01 December to 03 December 2022, Mr. Subendra Pandey and Mr. Vikant Singh have participated in the training on disability by CBM held at Dr. Shroff Charity Eye Hospital, Delhi.

LNJPEH staffs like Mr. Mintu Rajak, Mr. Santosh Ram, Mr. Sudhir Kumar, Mr. Amit Rana, Mr. Praveen Singh, Mr. Rajumar, Mrs. Rukmini, Ms Pallavi Das, Ms. Sushma Kumari, Ms. Seema Kumari, Mr. Ajit Singh, Mr. Durga Charan Yadav, Mr. Dinesh Dangi, Mr. Dinesh Hansda, Mr. Jitendra Kumar, Ms. Saloni Kumari, Ms. Sonali Kumari, Ms. Kalpana Kumari, Ms. Anamika Kumari and other trainees were present in the workshop.

08 December 2022, Jharkhand-Bihar: Usha Silai School Program by NBJK with support of Usha International Limited, New Delhi is playing an important role to improve socio-economic condition of rural, tribal and needy women through extensive training upon skills of tailoring, sewing machine maintenance and customer relation as well as by providing them new sewing machine, guidebook, signboard with course completion certificate to initiate Usha Silai Schools.

During 2021-22, 10 events of 85 days residential training to 258 women (tribal-180) from Nawada, Khagariya, Munger, Hazaribagh, Gumla, Simdega, West Singhbhum, Khunti, Latehar, Lohardaga, Giridih districts of Bihar-Jharkhand under Classical & Adopt segments and 08 days residential training to 100 women trainees (tribal-60) from Hazaribagh, Gumla, Khunti & West Singhbhum districts under the category of Usha Silai Satellite School including 10 days residential training to 12 Master Trainers from Hazaribagh, Patna, Gaya & Bhagalpur districts show the magnitude of this program.

All trained women have started Usha Silai Schools at their places, offer tailoring training & service to village women-girls. The program team’s members make follow up visits of Usha Silai Schools to monitor their performance.

The program could promote total 717 Usha Silai Schools and 257 Satellite Schools across 47 districts of Bihar-Jharkhand till this year. It facilitated total 974 rural women towards economic self-reliance with skill development and all required means to earn Rs. 5,000-10,000 monthly with dignity.

06 December, Hazaribagh: Mr. Girija Satish (President, National Lok Samiti & NBJK) has inaugurated Muzaffarpur District Lok Samiti Convention at the auditorium of Akhil Gramin Yuva Vikas Samiti (AGYVS), Mani Fulkahan, Kanti, Muzaffarpur (Bihar).

He offered flowers over the portrait of Loknayak Jay Prakash, the founder of Lok Samiti and remembered his thoughts regarding empowerment of common people. Mr. Girija Satish appealed the delegates to work collectively to strengthen the ideals of JP.

Ms. Kumari Jyotsana (Ex-Director, NYK), Mr. Kaushal Ganesh Azad (National Coordinator, Lok Samiti), Mr. Chandrabhushan (National Secretary, Lok Samiti) and Mr. Shivji Singh (General Secretary, Bihar State Lok Samiti) have graced the event.

Soon after, Mr. Girija Satish arrived at the office of AGYVS where its secretary Mr. Subodh Kumar Pandey & other office bearers have honoured him warmly with garlands, turban & memento. Mr. Girija Satish has dedicated Loknayak Jay Prakash Narayan block of AGYVS training building to people, observed different activities of the organization and expressed his happiness over the development.

The above mentioned events took place on 28th November 2022.

It’s noteworthy that AGYVS is an old network VO with NBJK in Bihar and earlier got supported with fellowship & capacity building initiatives under its Small Group Support Program. Also its secretary Mr. Subodh Pandey is a strong pillar of Muzaffarpur district unit of Lok Samiti.

04 December 2022, Ranchi: The meeting of Jharkhand Pradesh Sarvodaya Mandal held at NBJK, Ranchi.

A contributory unit namely Jharkhand State Sarvodaya Mitra Mandal has been formed during the meeting and Mr. Shankar Rana was entrusted with the responsibility of its coordinator.

Total 68 delegates from Ranchi, East Singhbhum, Deoghar, Godda, Hazaribagh, Dumka, Palamu, Latehar, Chatra, Ramgarh, Bokaro, Dhanbad districts have attended the meeting while Mr. Arvind Kushwaha (Mantri, Sarva Seva Sangh) participated as an observer.

Mr. Chandan Paul (President, Sarva Seva Sangh-Wardha) was the chief guest of this meeting. He congratulated the friends involved in taking forward Sarvodaya movement in Jharkhand state. Referring to alarming rise of liquor addiction, he described it as a social, economic & psychological problem which needs to be controlled and stopped immediately.

Also other prominent Gandhian social workers like Mr. Girija Satish (National President, Lok Samiti), Mr. Kaushal Ganesh Azad (National Coordinator, Lok Samiti),Mr. Arvind Anzum (Coordinator, Sarva Seva Sangh Prakashan), Mr. Kumar Chandra Mardi, Mr. Omprakash, Mr. Shankar Rana etc have graced the meeting.

03 December 2022, Patna: On the occasion of the International Day of Persons with Disabilities, the Persons / Children with Disabilities have received Assistive Devices.

As an activity of Community Based Inclusive Development & Poverty Reduction Program by NBJK with support of Bajaj Finserv Limited-Pune, 15 Tricycles and 06 Wheelchairs have been distributed among selected needy CwDs & PwDs from 20 slum pockets of Patna.

The event took place at Congress Club beside Gandhi Smarak Nidhi, Kadamkuan, Patna and Mr. Ashish Kumar Sinha (President, Bihar Pradesh Yuva Morcha) has inaugurated it. He appreciated NBJK and Bajaj Finserv for taking care of the people encountering physical challenges in their daily lives.

Also Mrs. Pramila Verma, Mr. Indradip Chandravanshi, Mr. Manoj Kumar and other dignitaries have graced the function.

Mr. Satyendra Kumar (Branch Manager, NBJK-Patna) has conducted the stage. Mr. Amit Ranjan (Project Manager, CBIDPR) & his team including Special Educator, Physiotherapist and CBR Worker have contributed to the Day.

The program is being implemented among disabled children & adults across slum areas in Patna, the Capital City of Bihar.

03 December 2022, Bahera (Chouparan, Hazaribagh): The alumni of NBJK run Surekha Prakash Bhai Public School, Bahera (Chouparan, Hazaribagh) are getting good jobs on the firm foundation of their schooling.

Lately Ms. Kajal Pandey, daughter of Mrs. Meena Pandey & Mr. Amrit Pandey, village-Maangarh (Koili) in Chouparan block has been selected as a Sub-Inspector in Central Industrial Security Force. She studied at SPBPS from class I to XII, did diploma course in electrical engineering, worked as an engineer but switched over to this more challenging job with CISF, quite unusual for any village girl.

I wanted to be in uniform with people oriented responsibility, Kajal says. Ms. Rina Pandey (Principal, SPBPS) remembers Kajal as a disciplined girl with academic excellence. After selection in CISF, Kajal has visited her school and got blessings from her teachers.

Ms. Rina Pandey informed that in recent time, more than a dozen students have achieved good positions. Ravikant Chandravanshi from village-Ambajit, Chouparan became Bank’s Probationary Officer, another former student Abhay has clicked Jharkhand Public Service Commission and got posted as Sub-Divisional Officer.

For last 15 years, we have been putting sincere effort to shape lives of the children belong to rural background and that pays, she mentions proudly.

02 December 2022, Giridih-Deoghar: In the month of November 2022, NBJK run Vimla RamKrishna Bajaj Eye Hospital, Deoghar and it’s associated Vision Centre at Bengabad (Giridih) with support of Sightsavers have organized 30 screening camps in villages of Jamua, Bengabad, Birni, Rajdhanwar, Giridih Sadar, Deoghar Sadar, Mdhupur, Sona Rai Tharhi blocks in Giridih and Deoghar districts on the mode community awareness & household screening .

These eye screening camps have ensured 846 OPD and identified 390 patients with Cataract, 353 with Refractive Error and 20 patients of Pterygium.

In Deoghar district, 20 patients in need of instant care have been referred to the base hospital; medicines have been provided to 67 and Eyeglasses to 51. All Cataract ridden patients will meet surgery at VRKBEH, Deoghar.

01 December 2022, Amrit Nagar (Hazaribagh): NBJK has won Mary Glowrey-Liliane Brekelmans Disability Award 2022 instituted by The Catholic Health Association of India (CHAI) & Liliane Foundation jointly.

The award under the category of “Role Model NGO/Institution in India” outside CHAI network was conferred to Mr. Satish Girija (Secretary, NBJK) with an honour cheque worth Rs. 02 lakh at CHAI Training Centre, Medchal, Secunderabad, Telangana on 30th November .

This is a well-reputed recognition for the work NBJK is doing for the mainstreaming and inclusion of persons with disabilities (PwDs) in Jharkhand & Bihar.

After getting MGLB Award 2022, Mr. Satish Girija delivered a short address and said that for last two decades we have been working constantly towards making lives easy for physically & mentally challenged people. We have tried to associate a marginalized community to mainstream with the activities like their identification, treatment, assistive devices, certification, organization, rehabilitation, rights advocacy etc and put special effort for visually impaired as well as carers of all such dependent persons, he pointed out.

Mr. Satish Girija expressed heartfelt gratitude to CHAI for taking cognizance of NBJK’s work and the admiration through MGLB Disability Award.
