08 January 2025, Bodh Gaya: A joint meeting of Lok Samiti and Mazdoor Kisan Samiti was held at Jeevan Sangam, Domohan, under the chairmanship of Mr. Kaushal Ganesh Azad, National Coordinator of Lok Samiti. The meeting focused on the 19-point memorandum previously submitted to the District Collector of Gaya, addressing critical issues of the district. Participants expressed concern over the lack of acknowledgment and resolution of these demands.
The memorandum calls for reinstating the Agricultural Produce Market Committee system, enacting a Minimum Support Price (MSP) law, and increasing the amount under the Kisan Samman Yojana from ₹500 to ₹5,000. Additional demands include debt relief for farmers and laborers, restoration of irrigation facilities, subsidies for agricultural inputs, increased pensions for senior citizens to ₹3,000, and granting land rights to 450 people in Kohvari village, Kahudag Panchayat, Barachatti block.
Other demands include issuing settlement certificates for residents of Ambedkar Nagar in Dobhi block and villages in Bodh Gaya and Mohanpur blocks, halting fraudulent land-related activities, constructing a bridge over the Niranjana River at Koshila-Ladu, clearing silt from the North Koel Canal, and building the Mohane Reservoir and Barandi Barrage.
The meeting condemned the administration’s indifference and strongly criticized the District Collector’s failure to address these issues. It also denounced the brutal murder of Chhattisgarh journalist Mukesh Chandrakar, demanding ₹50 lakh in compensation for his family.
The organizations plan to devise a strategy for peaceful protests during their next meeting, scheduled for February 9, 2025.
