29 July 2024, Hazaribagh: A pivotal stakeholders’ meeting was held on 26th July at the NBJK coordination office in Amrit Nagar, Hazaribagh. Organized under the Inclusive Eye Health Program by NBJK and Sightsavers India, the event saw collaboration from the National Program for Control of Blindness, National Rural Health Mission, and JSLPS.

Mr. Kirti Rawat, District Coordinator, highlighted the program’s achievements, including eliminating the cataract backlog in Katkamsandi block and plans for eye check-up camps in Keredari. Mrs. Rajnandini from UNICEF pledged to integrate eye health into the “Sankalp” campaign.

Commitments from Dr. Rekha Rani, Mrs. Shailbala (CDPOs), and media representatives Mr. Prasann Mishra & Mr. Murai Singh emphasized a multi-faceted approach to eye health awareness. Mr. Shashiranjan Prasad of JSLPS suggested involving village organizations, while Mr. Amarkant Sinha (Manager, CHCs) emphasized cooperation through health drives in Churchu and Dari blocks.

Mr. Raman Kumar from Sightsavers stressed the importance of stakeholder collaboration. The meeting also saw active participation from Divya Jyoti Sanstha representatives, special teachers, and community health workers, all aligning efforts to enhance eye health services especially for women & Persons with Disabilities in Hazaribagh.

27 July 2024, Hazaribagh: NBJK run LokNayak JayPrakash Eye Hospital, Bahera (Chouparan, Hazaribagh), proudly announced the launch of its Pediatric Surgery Division on July 26th, 2024, with support from the Mukul Madhav Foundation, the CSR arm of Finolex. This new division is equipped with a cutting-edge anesthesia machine, enabling successful pediatric eye surgeries. On July 24th, three children’s eye surgeries were successfully performed, thanks to Dr. Alok Kumar, Dr. Suprabhat Kiran, and the dedicated hospital staff.

25 July 2024, Bahera (Chouparan, Hazaribagh): Nav Bharat Jagriti Kendra run LNJP Paramedical Institute has organized a Certificate Distribution Ceremony for the successful students of 3rd batch (2021-23). These students have passed Diploma Course of Ophthalmic Assistant successfully.

They received their certificates from Mr. Satish Girija (Secretary, NBJK) who greeted them and conveyed his best wishes for bright future. He encouraged the pass out students and said that if there are eyes then there is the world. Mr. Satish Girija said that the service to humanity is the first and foremost duty for any doctor.

Mr. Rohit Kumar, one among the successful students of this batch has shared his experience at this Institute and said that here we have attended more theory & practical classes than other institutes teach the same course.

On this occasion, many dignitaries like Mr. Gandharv Gaurav (Program Director, NBJK), Dr. Alok Kumar, Dr. Vishakha Gupta, Dr. Mrinal Kumar (Ophthalmologists at LNJP Eye Hospital), Mr. Vikant Kumar Singh (Course Coordinator, LNJPPI) were present and blessed the students.

15 July 2024, Keredari (Hazaribagh): LNJP Eye Hospital, Bahera (Chouparan, Hazaribagh), with CSR support from NTPC’s Keredari Coal Project, has organized a free Eye Screening Camp-cum-Cataract Surgery facility at Bengvari Panchayat Bhawan in Keredari block of Hazaribagh district.

This ensured 125 OPD Consultations, 20 Cataract Diagnoses and 80 Patients Received Medicines & Spectacles.

The camp was inaugurated by the dignitaries like Mr. Liladhan Saw (Former Mukhiya, Bengvari Panchayat), Mr. Shiv Prasad (General Manager, Keredari Coal Project), Mr. Subhash Prasad Gupta (Additional GM, CSR), Mr. Rohit Paul (Additional GM, HR), Mr. Mukesh Kumar Sahoo (Senior Manager, CSR) and Ms. Alka Panda (CSR Officer)

The event has been supported by LNJPEH Team comprised of Mr. Santosh Puri (Hospital Manager), Mr. Vikant Singh (Sr. Optometrist), Mr. Pravin Singh (Optometrist), Mr. Sadanand Kumar (Optometrist), Mr. Ram Lakhan (Camp Organizer), Mrs. Shilpa Devi & Mrs. Sunita Devi (OCAs), and students of LNJP Paramedical Institute and Honorable Ward Members.

13 July 2024, Gaya: Mr. Bodha Manjhi, a 50-year-old resident of Koilipur village in Gaya district, belongs to the Musahar community, one of the most marginalized scheduled castes. As the sole breadwinner for his family of eight, Bodha works as a laborer. With no farmland or stable job, his economic condition is fragile. His situation worsened when he developed a cataract in his eye, severely impairing his vision and leaving him unable to recognize even familiar faces or continue working as a daily-wage laborer.

Bodha’s turning point came when he attended an eye screening camp organized by NBJK run LNJP Eye Hospital, Kajha (Gaya). At the camp, he was diagnosed with a full-blown cataract. The hospital took swift action, arranging for Bodha’s transportation to their facility, where he underwent successful cataract surgery. They also provided accommodation, medicines, spectacles, and comprehensive care before and after the surgery, ensuring his comfort and recovery.

The hospital staff even facilitated Bodha’s return to his home, marking the conclusion of his transformative medical journey. Grateful for the timely intervention and holistic care provided by LNJP Eye Hospital free of cost, Bodha has regained his vision and resumed his work, restoring his ability to support his family.

05 July 2024, Chouparan (Hazaribagh): NBJK’s Surekha Prakash Bhai Public School, Bahera (Chouparan, Hazaribagh) celebrated its top achievers in the 10th and 12th classes’ board exams. During the Talent Award Ceremony held on 3rd July, Principal Ms. Reena Pandey honored the toppers with mementos, medals, and certificates, expressing pride in their outstanding results. 10th Class Toppers – Saksham Raj Singh, Vivek Kumar Singh, Kalpana Kumari, Adarsh Prasad, Srishti Verma, Tanishk Sinha, Meenu Paswan and 12th Class Toppers – Anand Prashant, Gauri Kumari, Alisha Raj, Sanjana Kumari, Nitesh Kumar Gupta were present in this function.

04 July 2024, Deoghar: During May and June 2024, NBJK’s Vimla Ramkrishna Bajaj Eye Hospital, Deoghar, organized 41 outreach eye screening camps across villages of Giridih Sadar, Jamua, Birni, Deoghar Sadar, Mohanpur, Devipur, and Sarwan blocks in Giridih & Deoghar districts, Jharkhand.

These camps served 773 patients, identifying 224 cataract cases, 14 pterygium cases, and 347 refractive error cases. Additionally, 77 patients received medicines, and 55 others were referred to the base hospital for further care.

Supported by Sightsavers India, Vision Foundation of India, and Seva Foundation, this initiative ensures free eye screenings and cataract surgeries. All identified patients will receive comprehensive care, including transportation, food, accommodation, and pre-post surgery medicines, at the Vimla Ramkrishna Bajaj Eye Hospital.

30 June 2024, Ranchi: On the occasions of 50th anniversary of Sampoorna Kranti appeal by Loknayak JayPrakash or JP, 47th anniversary of Lok Samiti-a non-political organization founded by JP and 169th anniversary Hul Divas, Jharkhand State Lok Samiti has organized a national convention a Ranchi.

This was chaired by Mr. Girija Satish (National President, Lok Samiti) who stressed upon connectivity with common people and to disseminate the ideology of Gandhi-Vinoba-JP among youths. He said that our young volunteers can get practical training through their activities at grassroots level and Lok Samiti can be a means of change for people. Also he has honored Mrs. Putul Kumari (President, Gaya District Lok Samiti), Mr. Angura Mahto (President, Saraikela-Kharsawan District Lok Samiti) and Mr. Shriniwas (a veteran journalist & agitator of JP movement) by presenting them mementoes & shawl. Mr. Girija Satish appreciated these persons for their dedication towards people’s welfare at the cost of personal gains.

During this national convention, Mr. Kaushal Ganesh Azad (National Coordinator, Lok Samiti) has placed some resolutions before the delegates and asked for their suggestions. He moved motions like Complete Ban upon Liquor across India, Law on MSP-increasing Kisan Samman Nidhi as Rs. 5,000 and loan waiver for farmers, Promotion of Cottage Industries, Old age pension as Rs. 3000, Improvement in Education System, Control over Inflation, End of communalism –casteism, Solidarity to all peaceful movements for equality, the Government of India’s initiatives towards ending the Russia-Ukraine, Palestine-Israel war and Organizational-financial strengthening of Lok Samiti. The house has supported these resolutions unanimously.

While addressing the convention, Dr. (Ms.) Amita from Guru Ghasidas Central University mentioned about women’s rights and systemic change by being a part of the system. Mr. Shriniwas expressed concern over privatization of health & education sectors. Likewise Mr. Upendra said about crisis over Gandhian thoughts and inclusiveness of India.

There were many other speakers like Mrs. Kranti Rasosh, Mrs. Manti Verma, Mrs. Kunti, Mrs. Meena, Mr. Wazir Ahmad, Mr. Vinod Sharma, Mr. Chandrabhushan, Mr. Sadan Singh, Sardar Situ Saluja, Mr. Mahesh Ajnabi, Mr. Rajendra Manjhi with others those expressed their views during the convention. Mr. Shivji Singh anchored the dais and Mr. Shankar Rana extended vote of thanks. There were about 80 delegates of Lok Samiti from different districts of Jharkhand-Bihar and Madhya Pradesh participated in this event.

25 June 2024, Hazaribagh: Lok Samiti and Jagriti jointly organized a symposium titled “Emergency 25 June 1975 – A Disgrace to Democracy” at NBJK premises in Hazaribagh. The event commenced with the garlanding of Loknayak Jaiprakash’s photograph. Mr. Satish Girija, President of Jharkhand State Lok Samiti, welcomed participants, reflecting on the dark period from June 25, 1975, to March 21, 1977, when many were unjustly imprisoned and deprived of fundamental rights. He shared his personal experiences of arrest and imprisonment during the Emergency, emphasizing Lok Samitis’ role in ensuring democratic vigilance.

Prof. KP Sharma stressed the importance of mandatory voting, equitable property distribution, and laws to uphold fundamental duties. Mr. Ganesh Citu highlighted the inadequacy of MNREGA wages and other grassroots level government employees’ wages, calling for discussions on the past to improve the future. Journalist Mr. Umesh Pratap and former JP movement agitator Mr. Harish Srivastava called for systemic reforms and remembered the student protests against the Emergency.

Mrs. Sumitra Devi and Mrs. Sharda Devi discussed women’s rights and public issues. In his presidential address, Advocate Mr. Swaroop Chand Jain recounted his arrest and the widespread injustice during the Emergency, urging continuous opposition to such undemocratic actions. Other speakers included Mr. Adhin Mahato, Dr. Vishwanath Azad, Mr. Awadhesh Pandey, and Mr. Devsharan Suman. The event, attended by around 60 participants, concluded with a vote of thanks by Mr. Rajeev Singh and was anchored by Mr. Shankar Rana.

21 June 2024, Chouparan (Hazaribagh): International Day of Yoga was celebrated gracefully at the NBJK run Surekha Prakash Bhai Public School, Bahera (Chouparan, Hazaribagh). The students & teachers of the school have practiced Yoga under leadership of Ms. Reena Pandey (Principal, SPBPS), who termed it is an invaluable gift of our ancient tradition and it symbolizes the unity of thought and action with mind and body. Adulteration in food items, increasing pollution and hectic lifestyle are leading to the emergence of diseases, the solution to avoid them is hidden in Yoga, she said and stressed over daily practice of Yoga for all.

Mr. Ashutosh Kumar (Yoga Teacher) has organized the event systematically and ensured collective participation on this pious day. Many teachers like Mrs. Amrita, Ms. Anjali Maisee, Mrs. Jaya Verma, Ms. Ashrunta Nayak, Mrs. Purnima Kumari, Mr. Rakesh Ranjan, Mr. Ajit Kumar, Mr. Bhola Sinha, Mr. Arjun Dubey, Mr. Pawan Kumar, Mr. Shankar Singh and others have contributed to the event.
