02 October 2023, Hazaribagh: On the occasion of the 154th birth anniversary of the Father of the Nation, Mahatma Gandhi, a wreath-laying-cum-seminar program was organized by Lok Samiti and Nav Bharat Jagriti Kendra at Gandhi Smriti Sthal in Kumhartoli. The seminar was presided over by Mr. Girija Satish, President of Rashtriya Lok Samiti and NBJK. Describing Gandhiji’s Satyagraha as a unique experiment in world history, he said that his non-violent struggle based on truth has played an important role in solving problems like untouchability, slavery, apartheid not only in India but also in countries like America, South Africa and  produced public leaders Mr. Martin Luther King and Mr. Nelson Mandela.

Mr. Manoj Verma said that today the land mafia has their eyes on a sacred land like this venue, which has to be stopped. The district administration team that reached the seminar for some time under the leadership of Deputy Commissioner Mrs. Nancy Sahay and Superintendent of Police Mr. Manoj Rattan Chouthe was also informed about this conspiracy and they assured appropriate action. The Deputy Commissioner said that today is also World Non-Violence Day and whatever work we do, it can be done in a better way with the help of Gandhi’s thoughts.

Remembering Mahatma Gandhi, Mr. Jagdish Sahu considered his hold on the public, Mr. Shamsher Alam remembered his role in establishing humanitarianism-communal harmony and Mr. Arvind Jha recalled Gandhiji’s ability to understand the pain and suffering of others as unmatched. Considering prohibition as Gandhi’s dream, Mr. Swaroop Chand Jain urged the government to immediately implement prohibition in Jharkhand and the entire country.

Dozens of people including Mr. Krishna Ram Thakur, Mrs. Poonam Rana, Mr. Shankar Rana, Mr. Rahul Pathak, Mr. Jagdish Sahu, Mr. Khirodhar Prasad Mehta, Mr. Ashok Sahu, Mr. Chandrika Sahu, Mr. Umesh Tiwari, Mr. Bateshwar P. Mehta etc. were present in the seminar.

After this, apart from the statue of former Prime Minister Lal Bahadur Shastri at Indrapuri Chowk, the Team Lok Samiti-NBJK also garlanded the statues of Gandhiji at the lake and the new collectorate.

29 September 2023, Khunti: Murhu Nari Shakti Kisan Producer Company Limited, the FPC promoted under NBJK-CInI-Tata Trusts run Lakhpati Kisan project, has organized its sixth annual general meeting at Town Hall, Khunti. This was inaugurated by the District Agriculture Officer-Khunti Mr. Santosh Lakra.  He appreciated MNSKPCL for its works and assured for constant support from agriculture department if the farmers need advanced seeds, agricultural equipments or drip irrigation system etc. Also he shared his mobile number in case of any problem in service delivery.

The CEO of the company Mr. Praveen Kumar while presenting the financial details, said that we have made turnover of Rs 1,28,87,197 till the month of August in current financial year and registered a turnover of Rs. 03 crore 13 lakh during the year 2022-23. He informed about 3110 shareholders as members of 102 producer groups in 15 panchayats of Murhu block and operation of a wide ranged activities from high value agriculture based services with training & inputs for livestock rearing, lac farming with output and marketing arrangement. We will initiate branding of Ragi/Madua in this International Year of Millets and other activities to get support price from the government, he said.

29 September 2023, Hazaribagh: In its Sub-committee meeting, the Family Counseling Center, a program by NBJK in collaboration with Central and Jharkhand State Social Welfare Boards, addressed crucial issues. NBJK Secretary, Mr. Satish Girija, emphasized the negative impact of mobile phones on school children and called for the end of online studies and homework introduced during the COVID era.

Concerns for the elderly residing in old age homes, abandoned by their families, were also discussed. The meeting stressed the need for better management, cleanliness, and comprehensive legal, financial, and medical support for these seniors.

Mrs. Meera Gupta, the Family Counseling Center Counselor, reported on 36 registered family dispute cases, with 23 successfully resolved. The cases spanned husband-wife disputes, alcoholism, domestic disturbances, disputes with in-laws, and land disputes.

We’re grateful for the dedication of committee members, including Mrs. Sheela Kumari, Mr. Dinesh Kumar, Mrs. Usha Bahen, Mrs. Sharda Devi, Mrs. Poonam Gupta, Mr. Arvind Jha, Mr. Tulsi Dubey, and Dr. Sanjay Kumar, in working towards healthier family dynamics and better support for the elderly.

22 September 2023, Deoghar-Giridih-Jamui: With support of Sightsavers and SBI Foundation, from 14th to 21st September 2023, we’ve been on the move, bringing eye care to the doorsteps of those in need.

  • 11 screening camps in Giridih, Jamui, and Deoghar districts, 248 OPD consultations, 103 Cataract detections, early intervention is key! 72 individuals with Refractive Errors identified. 04 cases of Pterygium discovered.
  • 37 patients received essential medicines on the spot. Those requiring surgeries are now on their way to our base hospital for expert care.
  • On 20th September, ASHAs received training on basic eye healthcare in Jhajha, Jamui district. Their knowledge will help spread awareness and connect communities to preventive, curative, or referral services.

13 September 2023, Kharsawan (Jharkhand): A remarkable initiative is taking place under the Usha Silai School program, in collaboration with NBJK and supported by Usha International Limited.

Thirty talented and determined rural women from Seraikela Kharsawan and West Singhbhum districts are embarking on a transformative journey in two batches.

In the spirit of the Usha Classical Silai School Training, 15 women from Kharsawan block and 15 from Khuntpani block are receiving comprehensive training. They are mastering everything from sewing machine installation and understanding its intricate parts to proficiently repairing it and crafting beautiful apparel.

This residential training commenced on the 11th of September and will continue until the 19th. During this period, these inspiring women will learn forward-backward sewing, intricate garment designs, and the art of cutting and stitching a wide range of clothing items, including pants, shirts, blouses, petticoats, children’s undergarments, frocks, salwar-suits, bags, purses, kurtas, paijamas, and skirts.

Upon successfully completing their training, each participant will be equipped with a sewing machine, service manual book, tailoring guide book, a certificate of achievement, and a signage board to establish their very own Usha Silai School in their respective communities.

Leading this incredible transformation are Mrs. Renu Devi and Mrs. Nusrat Parveen, our dedicated trainers, along with the skilled service engineers, Mr. Kamaljeet Sharma and Mr. Gopal Kumar Mishra.

On the inaugural day, we were honored to have Mr. Felix Tirkey (State Program Manager, UIL), Mr. Angura Mahto & Mrs. Kunri Devi (Lokhit Santha), Mr. Alfons Khakha & Mr. Lorens Hazare (STEP) join us and inspire our village women to successfully complete this course.

The event was coordinated by Mr. Shailesh Kumar (NBJK).

04 September 2023, Bahera (Chouparan, Hazaribagh): Hazaribagh MP & Chairperson of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Finance, Mr. Jayant Sinha, inaugurated the new OPD division and medical equipments at Nav Bharat Jagriti Kendra-run Lok Nayak Jai Prakash Eye Hospital (LNJPEH).

Mr. Sinha praised NBJK and LNJP Eye Hospital for their cleanliness, well-trained staffs, and affordable treatment. He also acknowledged the hard work of Mr. Satish Girija and Mr. Girija Satish, who established these institutions to benefit the community.

D’DECOR and Rare Family Foundation donated Rs 2 crore under CSR for this eye hospital, enabling it to provide quality treatment at low or no cost. Mr. Sinha emphasized that when the goal is noble, resources follow, and he is delighted to contribute to this cause.

The event also featured Mr. Sinha’s efforts to improve link roads, education, and health facilities in the Hazaribagh region.

NBJK Secretary Mr. Satish Girija expressed heartfelt gratitude for D’Decor, Rare Family Foundation &  Mr. Sinha’s support, which has increased the hospital’s capacity to serve around 80,000 OPDs annually.

Colleagues of the MP and key speakers praised the collaboration between Mr. Girija and Mr. Sinha, highlighting their impactful work in eye patient treatment.

As a symbolic gesture, Mr. Sinha planted trees in the hospital premises to commemorate the occasion.

15 August 2023, Hazaribagh: NBJK has celebrated 77th national Independence Day zestfully. The organization’s president Mr. Girija Satish hoisted tricolor flag and led the chorus of national anthem at the coordination office.

In his address on this occasion, Mr. Girija Satish offered homage to the martyrs and leaders of freedom struggle. He said about the very concept of Gram Swarajya (self-rule at villages) and people’s empowerment as its objective as well as expressed anguish over India’s partition. With passing time though we achieved a lot of development as the human race but the world is shifting towards dictatorship gradually, the governments are suppressing democratic values and jingoism is on rise, he warned. Mr. Girija Satish has supported all non-violent movements; condemned caste-creed-faith based division, demanded MSP for farmers and appealed all to contribute for a responsible citizenry.

Mr. Satish Girija (Secretary, NBJK) has correlated Independence with democracy that is supposed to provide a systemic overhaul and access to health, education, food, justice, livelihood etc for all. He conveyed a grave concern over Manipur incidents and growing trend of horse-trading in politics.

Mr. Gandharv Gaurav (Program Director, NBJK) accepted India’s development, tipped off for internal threats on national unity and said to oppose wrong fearlessly. Mr. Rajeev Kumar Singh (Program Manager, NBJK) has informed about NBJK’s role in water harvesting in Jharkhand recently that ensures about 67 crore litres water in the state.

Mr. Shankar Rana (Coordinator, Lok Samiti) has conducted the function attended by all staffs, children and villagers at Amrit Nagar.

26 June 2023, Hazaribagh: Today, a thought-provoking seminar on “Memories of Emergency” took place at the Nav Bharat Jagriti Kendra Coordination Office, Amritnagar, organized by the Hazaribagh District Lok Samiti. This event held great significance as it marked the 48th anniversary of the imposition of the 21-month emergency in India on June 25, 1975.

During the seminar, esteemed speakers shared their insights and experiences. Mr. Girija Satish, the National President of Lok Samiti, highlighted the undemocratic nature of the emergency and stressed the need to continuously strengthen democracy. He emphasized the importance of public awareness to combat the misuse of government machinery.

Former MLA Gautam Sagar Rana, a key figure in the anti-Emergency movement in Hazaribagh, discussed the challenges faced by democracy in the present era, with rising costs of elections, the influence of capitalism, and social divisions. He urged everyone to take a stand against such injustices.

Other speakers addressed various aspects related to the emergency and its aftermath. They expressed concerns about the behavior of public servants, growing communal sentiments, the need for change through democratic means, and the importance of corruption-free governance. The seminar also shed light on the role of youth activists, emphasizing non-violence and Gandhian ideology as powerful tools for social change.

A significant moment during the seminar was when Mr. Swaroop Chand Jain, a senior advocate who himself defended the agitators during the emergency, presented the book “The Inside Story of Emergency” by Late Kuldip Nayyar to Mr. Girija Satish. Mr. Jain emphasized the significance of decentralization of power in a democracy.

The seminar served as a reminder of the sacrifices made by countless individuals during the emergency and the importance of safeguarding democracy. It urged citizens to actively participate in shaping a better future for our nation.

24 June 2023, Hazaribagh: The Family Counseling Center by Nav Bharat Jagriti Kendra (NBJK), with support from the Central Social Welfare Board and the Jharkhand State Social Welfare Board, has successfully concluded its Sub-committee meeting. The meeting, held at the NBJK meeting hall, aimed to know the progress of FCC’s work as well as to enhance its efficiency.

Mr. Satish Girija, Secretary of NBJK, presided over the meeting and pointed out about the rising cases of cheating and misleading girls in love affairs, focusing on preventive measures and counseling sessions for youth, particularly college students. He emphasized the need for proactive initiatives to combat such issues. Present at the sub-committee meeting were esteemed members including Mrs. Sheela Kumari (Secretary, Stri Shakti), Mrs. Sharda Devi (Sashakt Nari Utthan), Advocates Mrs. Poonam Gupta, Mr. Anuj Kumar Rai, Mr. Chandan Kumar, and the dedicated Counselors, Mrs. Meera Gupta and Dr. Sanjay Kumar.

During the meeting, Counselor Mrs. Meera Gupta presented the progress report of the Family Counseling Center for the period from April to June 2023. The report highlighted that a total of 34 cases were registered at the center, encompassing various issues such as husband-wife disputes (15), family discord caused by alcohol (7), second marriage (4), disputes between son and daughter-in-law (4), land disputes (1), dowry-related issues (1), and disputes between mother/father-in-law (1) and neighbors (1). Encouragingly, 22 of these family disputes were successfully resolved through mutual consent.

Mrs. Meera Gupta further informed the sub-committee members that the FCC is planning to organize awareness dialogues specifically tailored for college female students, focusing on equipping them with the necessary knowledge and skills to navigate the complexities of modern relationships.

20 June 2023, Hazaribagh: We are thrilled to share about a recent training conducted under the Inclusive Eye Health Programme by Nav Bharat Jagriti Kendra in collaboration with Sightsavers. The training, held at Jan Vikas Kendra in Zulu Park, Hazaribagh, aimed to sensitize 20 key stakeholders on access to eye healthcare and the importance of a barrier-free environment.

During the training, participants from the Inclusive Education Department, District Social Welfare Department, Hospitals, and Vision Centers actively engaged in discussions. Their valuable insights and dedication are crucial for fostering inclusive eye health services in the region.

We are grateful to Mr. Jyoti Prasanna, the master trainer from Bhubaneswar, for his significant contribution in imparting training. His expertise and commitment have undoubtedly made a lasting impact.

The presence of esteemed guests added immense value to the training program. We were honored to have the DEO In-charge of Inclusive Education as the Chief Guest, along with personnel from LNJP Eye Hospital (Bahera), Sadar Hospital, and Barkattha-Keredari-Churchu Vision Centers. Their support and collaboration are instrumental in advancing eye health initiatives in the area.
