Surekha Prakash Bhai Public School Student Shines at National Gatka Championship

16 October 2025, Bahera (Chouparan, Hazaribagh): The students of Surekha Prakash Bhai Public School, Bahera, run by Nav Bharat Jagriti Kendra (NBJK), have brought laurels to their school and the state by showcasing exceptional performances at the National Gatka Championship held in Bhilai, Chhattisgarh.

In this prestigious competition organized by the National Gatka Association of India, more than 500 participants from across the country took part. Among them, Palak Kumari, a student of Class 10 “B”, made a remarkable achievement by winning a Gold Medal in the Junior Group and a Silver Medal in the Senior Group. She is the first student from the school to win a Gold Medal at the national level, marking a proud milestone for the institution and the state of Jharkhand.

Along with her, other students — Ananya Rituraj (Class 9), Suhani (Class 10), Mayuri Sinha (Class 9), Adarsh (Class 9), and Aryan (Class 9) — also performed admirably and secured Silver Medals in their respective events.

Expressing her happiness, Principal Mrs. Reena Pandey congratulated Palak and all the winners for their dedication and hard work. During a special morning assembly, the medalists were felicitated with medals and certificates in the presence of teachers and students.

NBJK Serves 7,887 Breakfasts and Lunches to School Children in Chouparan Block with Support from Feeding India

16 October 2025, Hazaribagh: With the support of Feeding India, a Zomato Giveback Initiative, Nav Bharat Jagriti Kendra (NBJK) has served 7,887 breakfasts and an equal number of lunches in its schools located in Chouparan block of Hazaribagh district during the last fortnight.

The beneficiaries include students from Amoli Apurva High School, Mangarh, Amoli Apurva Middle School, Bahera, Amoli Apurva Middle School, Prajapat Nagar, and Chandrakala Devi Daga High School, Kewaliya. Over 11 school days, these children received sprouted gram or green gram with milk as breakfast and rice, pulses, and vegetables as a wholesome lunch.

The meal distribution figures stand at 2,614 for AAHS-Mangarh, 1,935 for AAMS-Bahera, 1,622 for AAMS-Prajapat Nagar, and 1,716 for CDDHS-Kewaliya, reflecting the consistent outreach of NBJK’s food initiative.

For the past year, this nutrition program has been successfully run by NBJK in its schools across Chouparan block. It not only ensures improved nutrition and better health among rural children but also provides relief to parents, as schools have effectively shared their responsibility for their children’s well-being.

NBJK’s collaboration with Feeding India continues to exemplify a strong partnership for child nutrition and education — ensuring that no child studies on an empty stomach.

Surekha Prakash Bhai Public School Students Shine at Inter-School Drawing Competition, Chouparan

13 October 2025, Chouparan, Hazaribagh: The students of NBJK’s Surekha Prakash Bhai Public School (SPBPS) delivered an outstanding performance at the Inter-School Drawing Competition organized by Youth for Youth at Town Hall, Chouparan. The competition brought together students from all CBSE, government, and private schools in the area.

From the 25 students shortlisted for the junior and senior categories, 10 students from SPBPS advanced to the final round. In the junior category, Pihu Kumari (Class 6-C) won the first prize, while in the senior category, Abhinav Singh (Class 9-A) secured the third prize. Their exemplary performance brought accolades to the school and highlighted the students’ artistic talent and creativity.

The school’s teachers, Ms. Amrita Massey and Mr. Vivek Kumar, played a pivotal role in mentoring and guiding the students. On receiving their awards, the students were congratulated by Principal Ms. Rina Pandey, who expressed her appreciation for their achievements and extended her best wishes for their future endeavors.

Special recognition was also given to Ankit Kumar Singh, a former student of SPBPS and current engineering student in Pune, who organized the event and contributed to its success, earning gratitude from all participants and attendees.

NBJK Celebrates World Sight Day with Eye Health Camps and Awareness Initiatives in Hazaribagh

11 October 2025, Hazaribagh: Nav Bharat Jagriti Kendra (NBJK), in collaboration with Sightsavers India, observed World Sight Day 2025 under its Rural Eye Health Programme, Hazaribagh. The event, supported by the Social Inclusion and Inclusive Education Team, was held at Station Club, Hazaribagh, and featured a special eye screening camp and an awareness campaign on eye health.

The programme was graced by Dr. Shashi (ACMO, Sadar Hospital) as the Chief Guest. Other dignitaries present included Mrs. Pratima Kumari (CDPO, Sadar Block), Dr. Virendra Tiwari (In-charge, AYUSH Department, Sadar Hospital), and Mr. Debashish Paul (State Programme Officer, Sightsavers India).

During the eye camp, 05 cataract patients and 09 diabetic retinopathy patients were identified. NBJK distributed 12 free spectacles (8 for near vision and 4 for distance vision) and 15 bottles of eye drops, all free of cost.

Continuing the campaign, on 13th October 2025, NBJK organized another eye screening camp at Vinoba Bhave University, Hazaribagh, where 530 students and staff members underwent eye check-ups. The screening identified 4 cataract cases, 2 retinal cases, and 255 cases of refractive error. Free spectacles and eye drops were distributed to the beneficiaries.

Cataract patients will receive free surgeries at LokNayak JayPrakash Eye Hospital, Bahera, while retinal patients will be provided with free treatment.

Through such initiatives, NBJK and Sightsavers India aim to promote comprehensive eye health, prevent avoidable blindness, and ensure that everyone — especially those in rural areas — enjoys the right to clear vision.

Commemoration of Loknayak Jayaprakash Narayan’s 123rd Birth Anniversary at Nav Bharat Jagriti Kendra, Hazaribagh

11 October 2025, Hazaribagh: On the occasion of the 123rd birth anniversary of Loknayak Jayaprakash Narayan (JP), a symposium was organized today at Nav Bharat Jagriti Kendra (NBJK), Amrit Nagar, under the joint auspices of District Lok Samiti, Hazaribagh and Jagriti, Ranchi.

The event began with lighting of the ceremonial lamp and floral tribute to JP’s portrait. The program was graced by eminent personalities including Prof. K. P. Sharma, who in his keynote address highlighted JP’s remarkable contribution to India’s freedom struggle and post-independence politics. He emphasized JP’s lifelong commitment to democracy and his preference to remain a common citizen despite being a towering national leader.

Mr. Girija Satish, National President of Lok Samiti, underlined that real change cannot come merely through power but through people’s awareness and collective action. He described JP as a world humanist and a firm advocate of Gram Swaraj, whose vision extended beyond national boundaries.

In his presidential address, Senior Advocate Mr. Swaroopchand Jain, a veteran of the JP Movement, recalled how JP’s leadership during the Emergency saved Indian democracy from authoritarianism. He said, “The nation remains indebted to JP for his courage and moral conviction.”

Other speakers, including Mr. Shamsher Alam, Mr. Vijay Verma, Mr. Arvind Jha (Advocate), Mr. Nandlal Saw, Mr. Ankit Sharan, Mr. Anand Abhinav, Mr. Ramavatar Bhagat, and Mr. Bateshwar Prasad Mehta, discussed various dimensions of JP’s philosophy—his focus on character-building, non-violent struggle, social reform, and the need for systemic change. They unanimously emphasized that JP’s ideas remain highly relevant in today’s era of corruption, unemployment, and social unrest.

During the event, Mr. Abhay Kumar mesmerized the audience with a rendition of the popular revolutionary song “Jayaprakash Ka Bigul Baja To Jag Uthi Tarunai Hai”, which rekindled the spirit of the JP Movement among attendees.

NBJK Launches Solar-Powered Finger Millet Processing Unit to Promote Nutritious Millets and Women-Led Entrepreneurship

09 October 2025, Khunti (Jharkhand): Nav Bharat Jagriti Kendra (NBJK), in collaboration with Collectives for Integrated Livelihood Initiatives (CInI)-Tata Trusts and supported by World Resources Institute India (WRI India) and IKEA, has successfully implemented a solar-based finger millet processing unit under the Murhu Nari Shakti Kisan Producer Company Limited (FPO).

This initiative aims to add value to locally grown millet, catering to the rising demand for nutritious millet flour, particularly in institutional markets. The processing unit is strategically located at Khunti district headquarters and serves the Murhu, Khunti, Rania, and Torpa blocks, empowering women farmers and local communities through sustainable livelihoods.

During the year, the FPO procured 88.07 metric tonnes (MT) of millet seeds, of which 86.1 MT were processed and sold as flour, generating revenue of Rs. 35.34 lakh against a procurement cost of Rs. 32.36 lakh.

“This initiative not only supports women-led entrepreneurship but also promotes sustainable agriculture and nutrition security in the region,” said Mr. Mohit Purty, Branch Manager of NBJK-Khunti.

The solar-powered processing unit stands as a model of innovative, environmentally sustainable, and community-driven development, reinforcing NBJK’s commitment to empowering rural women and supporting India’s millet revolution.

Gandhi Jayanti Observed with Simplicity in Hazaribagh

02 October 2025, Hazaribagh: The 156th birth anniversary of the Father of the Nation, Mahatma Gandhi, was celebrated with simplicity and reverence at the Gandhi Memorial Site, Kumhartoli, Hazaribagh. The event was jointly organized by Lok Samiti and Jharkhand Sarvodaya Mandal and was presided over by senior advocate Mr. Swaroopchand Jain.

Addressing the gathering, Mr. Jain said that Mahatma Gandhi’s entire life was dedicated to moral values. Through the powerful tools of truth and non-violence, he led India to freedom from British rule. Mr. Girija Satish, National President of Lok Samiti, emphasized that Gandhi’s ideals are exemplary for the entire world. He added that through the concept of Gram Swaraj, Gandhi paved the way for a self-reliant India and spread the message of social harmony.

Mr. Shankar Rana, State President of Jharkhand Sarvodaya Mandal, stated that Gandhi’s life remained devoted to humanity till the end. His half-cloth and walking stick were not mere symbols but reflections of inner strength and self-discipline.

On this occasion, Mr. Manoj Verma, President of the Gandhi Memorial Committee, Mr. J.P. Jain, Director of Gurukul Coaching Institute, Dr. Pramod Kumar (Retd. Subhash House Wins Inter-House Basketball Competition at Surekha Prakash Bhai Public School

26 September 2025, Bahera (Chouparan, Hazaribagh): The Inter-House Basketball Competition at NBJK-run Surekha Prakash Bhai Public School concluded with a thrilling final match between Subhash House and Tagore House.

In an intense game, Tagore House initially maintained a strong lead. However, in the closing moments, Rishu Kumar (Class VI) of Subhash House turned the tide by scoring three consecutive baskets. With this decisive effort, Subhash House secured victory with a score of 20–16, capturing the championship trophy.

The Subhash House team—comprising Adarsh, Amit, Anshu, Atul, Arpit, Abhishek, Aryan, Akash, Dhouni, Vishal, Mantu, Sanjit, and Rishu—displayed commendable teamwork and sporting skills.

The match was inaugurated by Principal Ms. Rina Pandey, who tossed the coin. Sports Teacher Mr. Rakesh Ranjan officiated as referee, while Mr. Ashutosh Kumar and Mr. Umesh Bhagat provided significant support in organizing the event.

NBJK and LIC HFL Empower 300 Persons with Disabilities in Jamui District, Bihar

26 September 2025, Jamui (Bihar): Nav Bharat Jagriti Kendra (NBJK), with the support of LIC Housing Finance Limited, is implementing a transformative initiative to promote sustainable livelihood and social inclusion of 300 Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) across Jamui Sadar, Jhajha, and Chakai blocks of Jamui district.

The project is designed to ensure access to rights, skill development, and income opportunities for PWDs. Key achievements so far include:

152 PWDs supported in securing UDID cards, with transport assistance provided to those needing repeated visits.

200 PWDs linked with government entitlements and schemes; 13 beneficiaries received aids, appliances, and assistive devices.

18 Self-Help Groups (SHGs)formed, engaging 190 PWD members to strengthen collective action and mutual support.

50 PWDs trained in vocational trades, mobility, and soft skills for initiating income-generating activities.

44 PWDs successfully established micro-enterprises with seed capital and training support.

Flex signboards are being designed to enhance branding and visibility of the new enterprises.

The project covers 18 villages in Jamui district and is already showing remarkable progress in enabling PWDs to achieve self-reliance, dignity, and sustainable income—many aiming to earn over Rs. 50,000 annually through their enterprises.

Speaking on the initiative, NBJK representatives emphasized the importance of creating inclusive opportunities that empower PWDs to become active contributors to society. Support from LIC Housing Finance Limited has been crucial in driving this mission forward.
