15-16 June 2020, Bahera (Chauparan, Hazaribag): NBJK run LNJP Eye Hospital has organized a two days workshop upon Cataract Screening.

The 2-phased event was accomplished successfully by following the guidelines for COVID-19 with social distancing and others.

There were 43 participants including RMPs, social workers & students.

Mr. Karunanidhi, Mr. Sudip Abhishek Bara, Mr. Vikant Singh and Mr. Ambar Nidhi (all from LNJPEH) have served as resource persons during the workshop.

April 2020: NBJK came forward daringly to participate in the war against the hidden enemy of Corona COVID-19 at different fronts in Hazaribag, Bokaro, Khunti, Deoghar, Jamui, Dumka and Patna districts of Jharkhand-Bihar.

It offered infrastructural support as two buildings, buses & manpower to Hazaribag district administration. Chouparan based LNJP Eye Hospital and SPP School are working as quarantine centers for 275 migrant laborers while for Govt. hospitals of Hazaribag-Dumka and Corona volunteers, it provided medical utilties like N95 mask (190 pcs), surgical mask (15000 pcs), shoe cover (624 pairs), medical gown (50 pcs), head cover (500 pcs), surgical gloves(15800 pcs), sanitizer (110 litres), infrared thermometer (16 pcs), pulsometer (15 pcs) and oxygen cylnder (2 nos.) along with reusable mask (18698 pcs) stitched at organization run sewing centers.

NBJK conducts 16 community kitchens, disributed food materials, sanitation kits to 2288 needy families and 4344 pcs soaps among villagers. Also the community people are being made aware of social distancing, mask wearing & other helpful practices to ensure hygiene.

During this campaign, 105 workers of NBJK could reach to more than 10 thousand people including 2723 Persons with Disabilities in 205 villages of 07 districts with support of Aditya Birla Capital, Plan India, GiveIndia, CBM India, CIni Cell, Tata Trusts, SBI Foundation, Vedanta and many esteemed individual donors.

Mr. Satish Girija (Secretary, NBJK) says ….this could be possible due to our experience in disaster management, transparent modus operandi, trust of donors and a dedicated team of workers.

29 March 2020, Chouparan (Hazaribag): Keeping view of Covid-19, NBJK run LokNayak JaiPrakash Eye Hospital provided masks, gloves, sanitizers to local administration & social workers at CHC Chouparan.

The Block Development Officer, Medical Officer, PS In-Charge & other officers assured to distribute all these items among Anganwadi Didis-ASHAs & other community health workers to protect them while working against the pandemic at ground level. Chouparan PS In-Charge told that most of the policemen were in dire need of such utilities to ensure Corona lockdown in the area.

The Government officers have appreciated the move contributed by team LNJPEH comprised of Mr. Sudeep Abhishek, Mr. Karunanidhi and others.

20 March 2020, Dumka: Mr. Shakeeb Khan (Program Officer, CBM-Bangalore) has visited LNJP Eye Hospital-Dumka, operational villages and met target beneficiaries to assess their improvement. He was accompanied by Mr. Anand Abhinav (Program Director, NBJK), Mr. Amrit Paswan (Program Manager, NBJK) and program team members.

17 February 2020, Dumri (Chouparan), Hazaribag: With support of Sightsavers India, NBJK run LokNayak JayPraksh Eye Hospital, Bahera has organized a free Eye Screening & Specs distribution camp at the premises of Birsa High School, Dumri under Bachhai panchayat of Chouparan block.

The event was inaugurated by Mr. Umashankar Akela (MLA, Barhi) and Mrs. Sheela Kumari (Secretary, Stri Shakti-Hazaribag). Mr. Akela has appreciated the initiative of LNJPEH for community eye care and appealed people to pay attention upon their eye health.

520 persons of 40 plus age group went through eye check up and 280 have got spectacles & medicines without any cost. Also the students have been provided information upon eye care practices and they participated in a quiz. Mr. Sudip Abhishek Bara (Manager, LNJPEH), Mr. Karunanidhi (Dist. Manager-REH) & others have contributed to the camp.

18 January 2020, Kajha (Gaya, Bihar): With the intention to serve about 7 lakhs people of Gaya, Nawada & Jehanabad districts (Bihar), WEN Giving Foundation-Australia and Mission for Vision-India have supported NBJK to set up LNJP Eye Hospital at Kajha which is equipped with all modern facilities. This 21000 sq. feet and 40-bed secondary eye hospital inside a campus of 01 acre 08 decimal land will adopt a self-financed approach with service charge for capable and subsidized or free of cost treatment for poor people like LNJPEH at Chouparan (Hazaribag) and Dumka.

Dr. Prem Kumar (Agriculture Minister, Bihar) has inaugurated the hospital with Mr. Vijay Manjhi (MP, Gaya), Mr. Awdhesh Kr. Singh (MLA, Wazirganj), Mr. Sanjiv Shyam Singh (MLC) and Mrs. Jyoti Manjhi (Ex-MLA, Barachatti). Also Mrs. Mei Wen (Founder, WGF), Ms. Elizabeth Kurian (CEO, MfV) and their team members were present on this occasion.

In his welcome address, Mr. Girija Satish (President, NBJK) said about specific features of the hospital which fulfils all criteria like rooms, staff, modular OT, R O water plant, fire safety, branded equipments, camera, intercom, infection free treatment and many more to provide quality service for common people. He dedicated LNJPEH-Kajha to the people of Magadh region with a commitment to develop it as an ideal eye hospital and requested the Government to support it under Ayushman Bharat/DBCS.

Dr. Prem Kumar (Minister) called LNJPEH as a direct benefit for public and thanked NBJK, MFV & WGF for such initiative. Mr. Vijay Manjhi (MP) termed the hospital as a long awaited boon to mass and assured for all possible support. Mr. Awdhesh Kr. Singh (MLA) appreciated NBJK & support organizations for taking care of needy people and promised to co-operate the effort.

Speaking on the partnership, Mrs. Mei Wen (Founder, WGF) mentioned mother Ganga, the river as a flow of life for all and said about equal opportunity for youth, especially young women through education and training. She assured to make people’s live better by providing them eye care facility under partnership with MFV & NBJK. Ms. Elizabeth Kurian (CEO, MFV) said that in view of the inadequate eye health services available in this region, LNJPEH will play a crucial role to eradicate needless blindness. She expressed gratefulness to all the partners involved in this initiative.

At the end, Mr. Gandharv Gaurav (Director-Eye Care, NBJK) thanked the guests, expressed sincere gratitude to all organizations supported NBJK’s eye care program and appreciated the people involved in construction work of LNJPEH-Kajha. He valued the co-operation from people’s representatives and local community as they stood by NBJK always. Mr. Satish Girija (Secretary, NBJK) was present during the function and Mrs. Dolly Gaurav anchored the dais.     

Many prominent persons, media correspondents and Govt. officials were present in the inaugural ceremony. More than 1000 people from villages have attended the function and many of them have availed the facility of free eye check up camp organized on the day.

02 January 2020, Charkapathar (Saraiyahat), Dumka: Under the auspices of NBJK run Lok Nayak Jay Prakash Eye Hospital with support of CBM-Bangalore, a modern Vision Center started at village-Charkapathar in Saraiyahat block of Dumka district. This was inaugurated by Mr. Sukhdev Marandi (Block Pramukh) in presence of Mr. Harilal Hansda (Mukhiya), Mrs. Basanti Murmu (Mukhiya), Mr. Dev Narayan Yadav, Mr. Bhagwat Ravidas, Mr. Anand Abhinav, Dr. (Mrs.) Megha, Mr. Amrit Paswan (Manager, NBJK-Dumka), Mr. Anirvan Panda (Manager, LNJP Eye Hospital-Dumka) and others. Mrs. Basanti Murmu said that due to lack of any Eye Care Center in the area, people were suffering a lot as such services are available far-away at Deoghar or Dumka. Mr. Anand Abhinav (Program Director, NBJK) has assured the villagers for free eye check up facility at this vision center and people need to pay fair price only for medicines & specs, he said.

On the occasion of World Sight Day, NBJK run Lok Nayak Jay Prakash Eye Hospital, Bahera (Chouparan, Hazaribag) organized a mega Eye Screening Camp at its Vision Centre, Sherghati (Gaya).

This served as total OPD-223, cataract identification-69, hospital ref. 32, refractive error-82, spectacles distribution-38 and low vision device distribution-05 along with transportation facility for patients from remote villages.

28 September 2019, Dumka: On first anniversary of #AyushmanBharatPradhanMantriJanArogyaYojana, NBJK run Lok Nayak Jay Prakash Eye Hospital has been honored with a Letter of Appreciation from the Commissioner & the Regional Director of Santhal Pargana Commissionary for excellent performance under this National Health Protection Scheme. Apart from the base hospital, LNJPEH provides eye care services to remote villages by organizing eye screening camps and established a vision center at Godda. During the year 2018-19, overall achievement of LNJPEH is quite encouraging with 18273 OPD,  374 camps, 3251 cataract surgery and distribution of 2196 spectacles among needy people.

28 September 2019, Bahera-Chouparan (Hazaribag): LNJP Eye Hospital, Bahera has organized eye screening camps at Shivganj, Aamas, Rajabigaha and Chandiasthan in Gaya district of Bihar during the week. The medical team identified and selected 100 cataract suffering people there for surgery. All those were operated successfully and their eye sight have been restored. Pune based Mukul Madhav Foundation and Finolex Pipes have supported the initiative.
