12 October 2017, Chouparan/Dumka: LokNayak JayPrakash Eye Hospital (Chouparan & Dumka units) has observed World Sight Day with enthusiasm and organized mass awareness as well as eye care activities for people. At LNJPEH, Bahera (Chouparan, Hazaribag), a workshop with rural health workers (Sahiyas) upon early eye care was inaugurated by Mr. Kumar Saurabh (Manager, Aditya Birla Financial Services-Hazaribag) in presence of Dr. Yogendra Singh (Medical Officer, PHC-Chouparan), Mr. Narendra Singh (Mukhiya, Bahera Panchayat), Mr. Girija Satish (President, NBJK), Mr. Gandharv Gaurav (Program Director, NBJK), Mr. Tripan Das (Hospital Administrator), Mr. Karunanidhi (In-charge, Vision Centers-LNJPEH) and others. Mr. Saurabh has praised LNJPEH for focus upon community eye care and cost effective services. We have celebrated the day with vision restoration for 50 people through cataract operation including spectacles, medicines free of cost, Mr. Gandharv Gaurav updated. Mr. Tripan Das has briefed that LNJPEH has conducted 66 village camps, 17333 OPD, offered treatment for around 2500 people with Cataract, Glaucoma, Retina and dispensed more than 3500 power glasses during April-September 2017. There were 75 Sahiya participants in the workshop and Dr. Alok has oriented them towards preventive-curative measures for eye care.
At Dumka, the hospital has launched an awareness campaign from 9 to 12 October and 419 people (from Dumka, Devghar, Pakur, Jamtara and Godda districts) have availed treatment here. Also 56 cataract patients got operated by Dr. Mohan Lal and Dr. Dheeraj during the period. On 11th, LNJPEH Dumka remembered Loknayak JP on his birth anniversary and Mr. Anand Abhinav (Program Director) has called him as a source of motivation for nation building. He said that right from its initiation in the year 2008, Loknayak JayPrakash Eye Hospital, Dumka has provided proper treatment to 57,792 eye patients and restored vision to 12,883 cataract suffering people. The campaign team was comprised of Messrs Sudarshan Pandey, Anirvan Panda, Himanshu Kumar, Santosh Gautam, Ezaz Alam, Sitaram Yadav and others.
