Er. Girija Nandan “Girija Satish” was born at village – Bataspur near Bodhgaya in Gaya district on 30 March, 1950. His father Mr. Binda Giri was simple hearted religious couple who admired for higher humane qualities among their children. Mr. Girija Satish has finished his school and higher secondary at Ranchi and passed out as a graduate in electrical engineering from BIT, Sindri in 1970. Also he pursued for master degree in engineering from BHU, Varanasi but could not complete due to social obligations he opted since student life voluntarily.

Mr. Girija Satish has studied Gandhian literature, came into contact of Sarvodaya leaders and applied those high ideals of renunciation in his personal life as a young man. At engineering college, he organized likeminded youths and initiated for self-served Gandhi Mess, Gandhi library for poor students and appeared with Hindi medium in examination to promote dignity of common people. Mr. Girija Satish is one among the founder members of NBJK and playing his role as its team leader indisputably. He believes in a holistic approach of development and NBJK has followed this line of action for sustainable result. As a staunch follower of the great Sarvodaya leader JP, he propagated Lok Samiti as a non-religious and non-political people’s platform in Bihar and Jharkhand. Mr Girija Satish has visited Bangladesh, UK, the Netherlands and Ghana to exchange views upon various developmental issues.

Er. Satish Kumar “Satish Girija” was born at Ranchi on 12 January, 1949. His mother Mrs. Suraj Devi and father Mr. Vishwanath Prasad Gupta were kind hearted parents with a middle class urban background. When Mr. Satish Kumar was in class 7th at St. John’s school, Ranchi, he met Mr. Girija Nandan “ Girija Satish”  as his class fellow and foundation of their lifelong friendship was laid to bring changes in live of common mass through one after another initiatives taken by the duo. Due to their strong friendship, they even choose to changed their names with a new name combined from their first names.

Mr. Satish Girija has completed his graduation in electrical engineering from BIT, Sindri in 1970 and shaped his life as per the inner urge to do help poor and deprived people. He served at draught relief camps, studied great personalities and decided to devote himself for the cause of humanity. Mr Satish Girija is the founder member and secretary of NBJK who lives the organization to make it energetic and active for more than four decades in villages of Jharkhand and Bihar through various innovative programs on socioeconomic development, health & sanitation, advocacy and education.

He has studied planning & management of rural development at Birmingham University, UK and gained a vast experience in the field of micro development with his visits to 10 countries of Asia, Europe, America and Africa time to time. Er. Satish Girija is a prolific writer of many books upon environment, play way learning, children, organization development, fund raising and health awareness. He wishes to empower people through NBJK and supports them in all struggles against injustice.

 ANNUAL HIGHLIGHTS 2022 – 23

Four engineering graduates who were very sensitive to the causes of disparity, exploitation and poverty, established Nav Bharat Jagriti Kendra in 1971. Motivated by the vision and ideas of the great Sarvodaya leader Lok Nayak Jai Prakash Narayan, these graduates made the decision to abandon their careers and comfortable lifestyles in order to explore ways to establish a just society, in which no one remains hungry, unemployed, exploited, or discriminated against. NBJK has grown significantly over the years. From its humble beginnings in a small dalit hamlet in the village of Bahera in Hazaribag in the state of Jharkhand, the organisation now has a presence in 10 districts of Jharkhand and Bihar. NBJK also works in close partnership with a networked of voluntary organisations and small groups. Through a network of about 400 organisations, NBJK is working in an additional 40 districts in the two states.
The organisation aims at facilitating a just and egalitarian society through an integrated development approach, with special emphasis on the most vulnerable and disadvantaged sections of society including women, children and person with disabilities.
NBJK is registered as a society under the Society Registration Act XXI, 1860 at Patna, Bihar. Registration No. 61/1974-75 dt. 26-09-74. The organisation is also registered under the Foreign Contribution Regulation Act, 1976. Registration No. 337750015.
